Yea, where is Czechia?

The best beer is the one from the brewery across the street, where I live. And a close second is Czech beer.

Where is Czech Republic?

They are easily the best makers of lager. Urquell is my favourite, but Velko and Budvar are also great.

I can narrow it down to one country. I like America because it has every beer style available (plus it's fresh & locally made), I real like Belgian trapist & monastic beers for there unique taste (same goes for a Belgian white), the British Isles earns high marks for Porters, stouts, IPAs, and bitters, and Germany earns marks for strength, purity and flavor. I love them all & I drink them all depending upon my mode.

If I had to pick one beer in the world as my single favorite then I'd have to pick Edelweisse Hefatrub from Austria. It is a shear delight to drink from it's purfumy smell, to it;s prodigious head, to it's wonderful taste which seems to change a little bit with every sip of the glass. The world could use more beers like Edelweisse. :B:

Urquell is a Pilsner style beer meaning it has alot of carbonation and a lite golden color. I believe Urquell means "original source" in German because these brewery was the one to originate the lPilsner style back when the Czech Republic was still an Austrian possession.

Lager just means the beer has been cold cellered for a while in order to let it clear a bit as the yeast and particals sink to the bottom of the barrol.

Mmmm. Progidious head.

Actually, I can't stand beer and never drink it. But according to my friends who love the stuff the U.S. has a lot of very good beers, though none of them are mass produced. Colorado is a hotbed of both micro-brews and home-brews. According to an article in the NYT Denver produces more beer than any city in the U.S. I assume they are including a lot of crap beers, but there is no shortage of the good stuff either. There is a beer festival here every year where hundreds of different types of beer are available. It lasts for three days, and costs about 30$ for unlimited tasting of the products available. Some of my friends get a hotel room nearby and make a weekend of it.

Got spare money?

Poland does make good beer, but it's not in the lead.
I am suprised, however, that such beer empires as Russia are on the list and Czech Republic, which is reknow for its beer, isn't.

Many beers don't seem to travel well, particularly the heavier ones. That's probably one of the reasons that microbrews that you are drinking near where they are brewed are better.

The town I live in actually has three breweries, two owned by big brewery companies and one privately owned but still quite large. They all produce the usual mass brewed p1ss. One of them produces most of the Fosters that is sold in the UK so it isn't really fair to blame the Australians for it being so awful.

By contrast the Black Sheep brewery a few miles up the road in Masham produces very good beer, particularly if you get the chance to drink it served draught (rather than bottled) in a local pub. My favourite!

Belgian, Czech, German, Dutch in no particular order. Luxembourg's Bofferding i pretty good as well, hits like a hammer when you get home after drinking UK piss (Carling, Fosters, Stella or whatever else they use as an excuse for beer here).
