Suffering from ads?

I didn't know that you could major in ballet in high school. I didn't realize high schools had majors. And my high school didn't have ballet, aerobics yes, ballet no. Maybe its cause I went to a public school.

Keepin' it real from the Class of '96 yo.

In addition, Daddy's House Summer Camp develops and funds cultural and educational trips for 200 underprivileged children. Combs has already donated over $2 million to his organization, and is aiming to raise more than $4 million to purchase a Daddy's House Center in Harlem. He has also given of his time to perform for the NetAid anti-poverty concerts held in three countries.

He is seeking to build a "New Motown" in Louisiana, creating job opportunities and alternatives for hundreds of young people in the state.

Well.. I agree and disagree. I think there are invdividuals who are rappers PLUS they are talented in other areas too. I wouldnt' go as far and say rappers are intelligent and versatile, but that there are those individuals. Just like in every area. You don't have to be intelligent to make lots of money. But you should be pretty smart, and I'm sure these guys are smart. They have hired people to help them get more money, right? THat's pretty smart, you have to know who you're gonna get next to you making that money. Obviously they have succeeded.

So, I think these individuals AS named must be smart, maybe some of them are intelligent too. Hard to say, I don't know them personally. But smart they must be, and they have succeeded so.. it's all good.

Many times how you make more money is to surround yourself with the right people. Smart people succeed in it, and less fortunate people mess it up.

Thats the thing... true renaissance people are innovators, not guys who rip off other peoples music and slap some lyrics over 'em ,

I could see Miles davis or George clinton as renaissance men, but P. Diddy??

No, speer, he wasn't inflicting crappy merchandise on the masses to feed his media machine.

He was pushing the boundaries of jazz, and was active in the political and civil rights movements. He was innovative both in and out of music.

A story of Miles Davis comes to my mind.. he once drove a car, and it as it was white, he suddenly thought it was made of cocaine.. so he tried to scratch it and was panicing, since sirenes from cop car was singing somewhere, and he thought they were there to get him and his car made out of cocaine. I think it was in his autobiographie.. many funny stories

I think its quite obvious that people can't stand to admit that P Diddy and a bunch of other successful badass rappers had an ounce of brain matter in their heads. Get over it, the guys aren't Rhodes scholars but they know how to make money. As for the rest of rappers, theirs no indication of any trend of intelligence or business savvy, much the same for most musicians.

Oh, I'll freely admit that many rappers are business-savvy, and know how to turn a profit. It will be very tough to convince me that very many (or any) rappers are of above average or top tier intelligence.

Those people are talented people who happen to be rappers as well. Sean Combs is an exceptional buisnessman, and a good rapper aswell. This definatly does not mean that all rappers are talented buissnessmen.

But then again it's bullsh*t to say someone can't be intelligent, or a good buissnessman just because they are rappers.

a rich nigger is still a nigger.

and if gangsta rappers aren't the definitive nigger, the ones that are given the racial slur to describe the fact that they make the whole race look bad by their stupid actions, then there aren't any niggers, niggah.

@Uber

Successful Rappers are great buisnessmen, but I wouldn't call them Renaissance men.

A Ren Man is suppose to be someone who is knowledgable and active in/of many fields of study and art. While a Rapper may know how to write a good beat, some can actually write some poetry, and some can actually market it, this does not make it enough. Mainly because marketing should be second nature to them anyway, since that is all they are really doing is selling an image, as Uber so delicatly put it

It is the same with a professional athlete who developed his skills for scratch, sold his image to some team, and clothing line, and then went into acting or rapping... Would you call Dennis Rodman or Shaq a Ren Man? I know I wouldn't.

one might say they were intelligent in that they may be putting up an act to sell an image that they might not really have.
