and now for the ultimate scenario:

Has anyone seen the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks?

Well his plane when down and he was presumed dead. His wife remarried and moved on. She also had kid with her new husband.

It was only his wife's memory and picture that allowed Hank's character to survive and attempt to get off the deserted island.

So would you move on if your spouse is presumed dead, but there is no body, and there is some remote hope of him/her being alive?

Or any soldier MIA? Tough. I'd wait for some time, but at some point you have to address the point that your spouse is really gone.

Maybe a year, though I'm sure it would feel different to actually be in the situation rather than to work with the hypothetical.

If I cheated on my wife and she found out she'd kill me, so I am not taking any chances.

As for if she went down in a plane crash and is presumed dead, but no body... I think a 1 year grace period should be sufficient on dating and a 3-4 year grace period on having kids should suffice. Yet, running out and nailing the first girl I see moving would be rather wrong...

What if you found out that you SO was cheating on you, but they didn't know that you knew. Would that justify having a secret little tryst?

You know, she might think you have already cheated her.. you never know what women think. You know coming late from work.. she might have the wrong idea.
