the only reason i like ibm laptops is because of the red nub. i hate those damn touchpads that seem to be all the rage.

apples are pricey. doesn't mean they're the ones with most quality. same are sun servers, and microsoft server software.

True, but when it comes to Dell, their products are often quite well designed. Cheap or not. Mine was certainly not cheap, not even after the 800 € discount I managed to talk to myself.

oh, believe me, i like dells too. they are a dream to administer in a mid-sized network. but i'd still vouch for a identical spec-wise computer i constructed for a bit cheaper over one of theirs.

Sure it's cheaper to built your own computer, but in laptops building your own system is abit more difficult

not at all.

micro atx, small form factor, modified battery to power socket connection...

er, maybe you have a point there. still, quality and cost aren't always related with computing. indeed, i'd vouch for a cheaper toshiba above a dell.

And congrats on the X31, it's basically the T40's ultraportable sibling. The IT departments ought to love them since they can share the same software images.

Yeah, Asher, the IT guys here were practically creaming in their pants when they saw the architecture. They immediately wrote a new corporate laptop standard -- we're all IBM now. Buh-bye, Toshiba!

that I get the first X31 here...

What GPU do you have anyway? A GeForce 4 Go? That's not better than a Radeon 9000...http://www17.tomshardware.com/mobil...eon9000-03.html

So tell me wich one is more cheaper, lighter, practical and more mobile, the 1+n books or the LD

I'd venture that a better designed laptop that uses cool, but fast parts and well insulated would be better either way.

Put an end to popups!

Jeez, you guys really have to take a step back and see how stupid this is sounding.

laurentius: You act as if you were the owner of the company that makes Laptop Desktop. If someone doesn't want to get it, don't force them to.

Asher: Just give it up. He enjoys his laptop. You enjoy yours. I don't think you're going to be forced at gunpoint to swap anytime soon .

Uh, you guys are right. Maybe we should stop this childish nonsense right now.
Matth: Yeah, I realised I was starting to sound one of those TVShop voices. "You cant get this from any local store..." And thats not all" But the LD is no Nippon ultra laser knives, LD really works

Ok, point taken

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I was playing on an Inspiron 8500 today. Nice screen.

But damn, the thing was idle and the left palmrest was noticably warm. How can you people use that thing?
