I don't think the UN itself is anti-Semetic. The big problem is there are some 30+ Arab or Islamic countries which have die-hard anti-semetic policies. These anti-semetic countries form a voting block which introduces most of the anti-Israel bills.

The UN is just an organization which these bigots us to express their bigotry.

That's laughable. The creation of the state of Israel was sanctified by the UN and no amount of wishy-washy "Why don't we just make all the Jews leave Israel" type thinking will change that.

For the most part the Israeli government doesn't even want the West Bank and Gaza; the only reason they even have it was because the Arabs kept starting wars with Israel. Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt when Egypt made a true peace agreement with them and I'm sure they'd gladly give the other territories back if the other side would agree to make peace & stop attacking Israel.

You are of course ignoring that 98% of the land in question was offered to the PA yet Yasser Arafat turned it down. Even Saudi Prince Bandar told Arafat he was a fool for not accepting it.

Since even the most pro-Arab of the European governments recognize the 1967 borders that only leaves us with that last 2% which was mostly just to straighten out borders or to keep villages from getting cut in half. Are you really claiming that 2% is some sort of massive Imperialist plot?

242 amounts to working out a land for peace deal. Israel has already shown it is capable by exchanging land for peace with Egypt and Jordan, and has been working on doing so with the Palestinians for 10+ years.

However, 242 calls for both sides to commit. And that means that the Palestinians have to end hostilities and recognize Israel's right to exis with security. They haven't exactly done a good job of that.

Oerdin, rather than get into a threadjack, let me just say that as long as I can remember, lefties have been on the other side of capitalism and oppose successful capitalistic countries. Just like the right, they will ignore the lack of democracy and respect for human rights in regimes who are on their side. In the case of Israel, it is both capitalist and an ally of the United States. Thus, they excuse Palestinian terrorism by focusing on the so-called immorality of Israel itself.

(And there may be something else. A large portion of anti-Semitism continues from the middle ages where Jews in Europe were "lenders" in a time when the Church outlawed interest. The Jews were labelled greedy. Nothing outrages the left more than greed.)

Most of the lefties I've seen who are die-hard anti-Israeli types (which are unfortunately a fair number of lefties) oppose Israeli existence based upon a mistaken belief that most Jews are white there for they must be evil western Imperialists who are out to destroy the brown people of the world. This is of course ignorant racism at its worst but never the less it is a common position.
