I think the interesting question about the whole mess is who would step up if North Korea attacked SK. Obviously, the US would eventually have to side with SK. But would China tell NK to **** off immediately, wait until the US joins SK's side, or not do anything at all?

I'm not sure whether I see how Taiwan could get involved in a war with China. It would never make any big move without support of the US first, and the only thing that the US would do in the event of a Korean war would be to side with South Korea. I don't see the PRC going to war with the US, South Korea, and Taiwan with only North Korea as an ally.
