I am always amazed at how popular this album is. I can easily think of 10 or so grunge albums (Core, Dirt, Superunknown, Vitalogy, etc.) that I like better. Not to say Nevermind isn't a great album, it is, but it's not even Nirvana's best album.

If I had to pick a song, I'd say Drain You. "The water is so yellow, I'm a healthy student." Great lyrics .

That's why I don't listen to it anymore. Polished albums and raw energy music don't mix.

I really like the new one they just released as well, "You Know You're Right." I'll bet the other ten or so songs Courtney Love is sitting on are just as good. Maybe we'll all get lucky and she'll get hit by a bus or OD and stop ruining Nirvana's legacy with her greed.

It's plagiarised. They were just about to be sued by Killing Joke when Cobain topped himself. Check out "Eighties".

Put an end to popups!

it all depends on the producer... Butch Vig i think was able to capture the energy yet polish the sound a little bit. besides rough edges do not necesarily make energy or a good album. i offer metallica's st. anger as proof. god damn that album sounds like ass.

I totally concur. Nirvana is totally overhyped. If Cobain didn't blow his head off they'd be just one of the big Seattle bands. I think Pearl Jam are objectively a helluva lot better than Nirvana. I like Soundgarden and Alice in Chains more too. Go figure.

Ten is a flaming pile of **** compared to the genious that is Vitalogy. People like Ten because it has catchy radio tunes on it. But then again, the people that like Ten are the same people that think Nevermind is one of the greatest albums ever .

This in itself is enough for many people to refuse liking these songs.
It's not BECAUSE it's catchy it is bad.

no way, dude. vitology is a steaming pile of horsepuckey. just because something is catchy and popular doesn't immedeately bar it from being good.

sure, a lot of underrated bands are great, but great bands can be popular, too. crickey, look at audioslave. there's not one bad song on that album...

The reason Nirvana gets the credit is because Cobain came across as completely honest, and his angst struck a chord with a generation of disenfranchised youth. None of the other bands did.

And I think Unplugged showed a lot of potential for the direction the band could go. Too bad for us.

Teen Spirit is probably the best pop-rock composition of the 90s. I'm not even a big fan of Nirvana and don't own any of their albums, but that song impressed me immediately as something that would have an impact.

I'm sorry, I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and Vitalogy is my favorite album, but Nevermind is better than any album Vedder and Co. ever put out. I think Pearl Jam is a better band than Nirvana overall, but it isn't really a fair comparison seeing as how Cobain capped himself before we could see how the band would evolve.
