Wow, what an impressive statement

As others said in this thread, there are numerous ways for liberals to be hypocrites, when they indulge in a behaviour opposite to their morality.

Just imagine the current white champion of anti-racism happens to belong to an all-white country club. Despite this behaviour not being condemned by the conservatives, they'll call him "hypocrite" in a matter of seconds. And he'll be likely dropped by his party if it becomes clear the scnadal can't be avoided.

I don't think Ann's point was that liberals have different morals. She was not that generous.

BTW, clearly liberals have "values." They value equality, for example. But is that the same as having morals?

Also, just because liberals are against racism does not mean that conservatives are in favor. This is one value both sides share in common, although a charge of racism is one of the quickest to be brought by the defamation-prone left.

In regards to point 15 of your diatribe..

It's also the impurities in cut heroin that cause the majority of infections/damages that you associate with addicts. Things like brick-dust and unsterlised talcuum can cause blood clots and potentially fatal infections.

Pure Heroin itself is safer than most over-the counter drugs, with the only major side-effect being constipation. It's safer to take a double-dose of heroin than a double-dose of paracetemol. One gives you liver failure, the other makes you drowzy and blocked up below.

Ann Coulter is a columnist and a writer. She has been strongly criticizing liberals for their lack of morals and their anti-Americanism. She does this in language which is completely unusual from the normally mild-manner Republicans. She uses the same harsh language the Democrats have long used to describe Republicans. She has turned the tables on them and they hate her for it.

look, it's disgusting when you see newt gingrich (i did like him before) castigating bill clinton for not being faithful to hillary--only to divorce his own wife because she found out about the affair he was having.

if you take potshots at someone else's morality, be prepared for the worst when you yourself end up doing the same exact things.

ann coulter's one valid point is that because democrats by and large don't take morality potshots at republicans, they're not hypocritical in that regard.

she herself, however, uses disgusting rhetoric to make her points. in her book slander, she repeatedly uses slanderous remarks against liberals, defending it only by saying, on page 21, that "there are substantive arguments contained in conservative name-calling." nope, sorry. ad hominem attacks are disgusting no matter which side they come from, be it left or right. and for her to showcase liberal ad hominem attacks by using her own ad hominem attacks--hypocrisy.

that's why i don't like her. that's why i despise her. if she wrote her columns without that vitriol, i'd have no problem reading it--it's too bad, really, that she's just as vacuously hostile as michael moore.

I'm not an expert on heroin, but I've heard it's actually pretty safe albeit anytime you inject something into your veins you're running an elevated risk (especially if clean needles aren't around because the Straybow's of the world made them illegal for heroin users ). Then there's the risk of addiction of course...but that drowsiness and poking holes in the body is why I never tried the stuff. I had friends who used it and they just zonked out, not what I'd call a "high" but to each his own.
Another consequence of these impurities is the inconsistent quality, get some really cut (impure) heroin followed by very pure heroin and the risk of OD climbs. On the other hand, the author of "Naked Lunch" (Burroughs was his name I think) was a regular user for most of his adult life and he died recently at the age of 84 so it can't be as horrendous as many claim.

What I can't understand is why drug war pushers are oblivious to the fact that prohibition increases the risk of OD, then they point to OD's to indict heroin and to support their war. These people are in the habit of looking at the results of their drug war and ignoring that their war is the cause of what they see. It's like looking at the increased homicide rate and poisonings under alcohol prohibition and concluding alcohol is evil...

Btw, Ann has nothing but praise for Limbaugh but she ridicules others (liberals?) with addictions. Hell, she's guilty of hypocrisy right there... I saw her on Scarborough Country last night with Alan Dershowitz and he ripped her apart for some of the BS she wrote about him and all she could do was wear a big **** eating grin the whole time he was refuting her. I don't even dislike her since I know she is just returning the favor to many liberals for their vapid demagoguery, but where she and those liberals go overboard is when they demonize the innocent with generalisations.

I've heard the first but not the second. Link? If none, no biggie. That one just sounds bizarre.

There may or may not have been soldiers killed during the occupations, but Germany and Japan were so soundly defeated and in ruins there wasn't much point to resisting the occupiers. Besides, it would take a seriously moronic person to see those countries as victims of the US.

A large section of her book, from interviews with her I have seen on FOX, defends McCarthy's honor and claims he was the victim of a smear campaign from Eisenhower. May be an interesting theory, except she's too ignorant to be taken seriously by me.

Re: Germany and Japan, she was trying to sell on "Heartland" show I think it was, that the resistance in Iraq is a natural part of the rebuilding process. And that America had the same problems when we occupied Germany and Japan after the War. Total nonsense.

No, when you invoke "hillbilly heroin" that refers to a specific practice: crushed and injected. I can't help it if you are ignorant of the vocabulary you're using.

It doesn't matter what the FDA says, they don't write the laws - Congress writes them.
Yes and the U.S. Congress has not legalized medical pot, only CA and maybe another state or two. A Federal Court has ordered the various Federal law enforcement agencies to not enforce Federal law against prescribers and users of "medical pot." Again, if you think that is the last appeal you are wrong.
quote:
Liberals don't condemn social conservatives for committing adultery, they ridicule them for …not living up to the very standards they preach.
So where are all the quotes? Rush only called "potheads" people like AlGore, who positioned themselves as clean-cut all-American types but in fact used massive quantities of pot in HS/college years. Or he mocks Clinton who "didn't inhale" and Marion "the b1tch set me up" Barry. Etc.

He also has a phrase "long-haired, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, good-time, plastic-banana, rock-n-roll FM [radio] types" or something like that. Refers not to drug use per se, but to the whole hippie mentality.

The term just happens to be what the media uses without any mention of "specific practices". Does it matter?
Not to me. In your book, does pothead only apply to people who smoke it and not to those who eat it?

quote:

A Federal Court has ordered the various Federal law enforcement agencies to not enforce Federal law against prescribers and users of "medical pot." I just told you there are people in this country with FEDERAL approval to smoke pot. And I believe ~8 states have legalised medical pot, so since pot has obviously been legalised in some states and at the federal level for those with permission, why don't you refer to pot smokers as people who merely use a prescription drug illegally? Because your "distinction" between illegal drug use and the illegal use of a prescription drug is both meaningless and morally and legally irrelevant.

quote:

If you haven't listened to Rush, you wouldn't know. If you were a steady listener a few years back, you would have heard him criticise pot smokers plenty of times. Yeah, I'll do a Nexus search for all the times Rush has defamed people for using pot. I heard him do it... Hell, just read the quotes in this thread. When he speaks of the ills allegedly caused by drugs, he is blaming drug users for those ills. Sorry, but that's like accusing Republicans of being racists because of David Duke.

quote:
He also has a phrase "long-haired, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, good-time, plastic-banana, rock-n-roll FM [radio] types" or something like that. Refers not to drug use per se, but to the whole hippie mentality.

Oh that's good, Straybow. He uses negative imagery to defame certain people but he wasn't actually saying anything bad about pot smokers. I had long hair back then, I listened to FM, and I smoked pot. The only people who have maggot infestations are people who've been wounded and are smart enough to leave them alone absent better medical care. Now, since there aren't really people who are "maggot-infested" except for what I've described, was Rush calling millions of people "hippies"?

quote:

Just answer one question: if drug prohibition neither reduces or increases consumption, what is it's purpose?

I wish all of the conservatives would pack their bags and leave. Seriously, they stain our nation. I am so sick of hearing the conservative propaganda. All I hear everyday is about how righteous the conservatives are and how immoral and evil the liberals are. In fact, almost every single conservative I know is a total moron. They are narrow minded. They see everything from one perspective and they can't look at things from a different viewpoint. And they don't look into any of the issues. They just believe in whatever would seem to be the right thing to do after they see the surface of the problem and no facts. They question nothing, they just accept it because conservative leaders say so. They make up their opinions this way and they don't even realize how idiotic they are (the opinions I mean, not always the person). I think Iraq is a perfect example. All of the conservatives hear Bush make a speech on TV, think about the problem for about two seconds and say "We should go in." and then they believe in that without looking into it further, yet the idea is just plain stupid.

Of course you'll probably shoot back and say 'liberals do the same thing' but let me tell you this. I actually considered other opinions out there. Conservatives just have the same opinions and look at things the same way as they always have. They don't consider anything different. But I looked at what else was out there. I used to be an idiotic conservative uber-patriot (well, the idiotic part may still be true), but I decided to keep an open mind and actually question things, not just take them for the way they are. I looked at all of the political parties (not just conservative ones such as republican and democrat), looked into them, and made my decision on what I thought was best. Most of the conservatives didn't do this. They never questioned the viewpoint that they learned to look from. They didn't look at anything else. They questioned nothing and kept their narrow mind. That is where they have failed.

The Democrat harsh rhetoric has long been there and commentators like Limbaugh have long lambasted Republican leaders for not responding in kind or at least objecting to it. When Clinton and Gore used to say that Republicans were killing children, and they usually had an exact number, by taking such and such position on policy issues, Republican largely remained silent about the unacceptability of the rhetoric.

Now, for the very first time in history of the Republican Party it seems, we have a commentator that can sling it just as well as the Democrats. All I can say to the leftist complainers here is, "You started it."

The attacks on the Clintons by Republican leaders was very mild. Bush made only one, but very vague, reference to the "character" issue which had been raised in spades by his Democrat opponents in the primaries.

The sh*t hit the fan, though, when Clinton took office and really upped the slander against Republicans in very harsh language. He did not argue policy so much as to accuse Republicans of killing babies and pulling the plug on life support for those who depended on Social Security. Clinton was a fearmonger that noone will ever be able to top.
