World At War! (1900 - 1950) top
Review it ____ Rate it ____ Discuss it
Description:
Mod that offers a very fast-paced game from the first to the last turn, plays in the first half of the 20th century (1900-1950 CE), the time of the World Wars. It includes a completely new tech tree, 50+ units, 16 buildings and 6 wonders, all based on the period. It also makes changes to the AI, the starting situation and adds historical events.

Beginning with the acquired knowledge of mankind to 1900, and a handful of rag-tag military and civilian units at your command, you must guide your nation through the diplomatic, scientific and military web that is the World At War era!

Will you be the spider or the fly?

For this mod you can optionally also download a new intro movie. Go to Dale's website to download this Intro Movie Option Pack.

  1. ( GordonF, 11-16-2003) This mod is fast paced and forces you to make decisions quickly. WAW gets moving immediately. I was amazed to see that there are so many settlers and troops to start the game. (Don't spread out too fast on the first 3 moves, though! Troops require support.) I find that my opponents tend to expand faster, so war is inevitable in order to survive. I really like Dale's option to move a conquered city's population into your other cities instead of expanding your civilization (or killing all the inhabitants). It cuts out the heart of the enemy because there is no city left to recapture, and the enemy's citizens become my productive citizens. I find this mod easier to play in short time periods than Cradle, because there is less to keep track of. Just crush the enemy! Great job, Dale! There are many great concepts that should be integrated into CTP3, when Apolyton (with Activision's blessing) produces it.
  2. ( centrifuge, 09-10-2002) Excellent Mod. One of the funnest that I've played. No slow starts with this one. The action starts from the beginning.
