Is this legal? (Voter Registration) Increase Your PM Length

someone was registering people to vote on the subway and though I had already registered, I hadn't gotten my registration card yet though it had been some two weeks (it came the next day), so i decided to register again.

the guy told me to write in my name, address, number, and that was about it and he quickly took it and went on to get another person registered. so i asked him what about the other parts especially party affiliation?

"Democrat," he said to which I responded, "No, Republican."

he then crossed out the marking on democrat and then checked Republican. apparently, all the registration cards had Democrat already checked and the registration people do not tell people to check the party affiliation and just snatch away the cards.

is that legal? and is this how the number of registered democrats outnumbers the number of registered republicans?

the democrats have a history of honest to goodness voter registration.

no signs of sneaky tricks there, not even the ones working the graveyard shifts.

Got spare money?

Or maybe this guy was posing as someone who registers votes, so he can steal personal information for his own use??

Nice assumption! If you don't know you are a Republican you must be a Democrat.

I doubt it's legal, but it probably makes little difference, except that maybe your registration card might get lost now. Most states have open primaries, so even if you're a registered Dem, you can vote in the Republican primary, and vice versa.

With motor-voter registration, a little hanky panky like that isn't gonna effect the numbers of registered Dem's v Repugs. What matters at the end is the votes and who counts them.

If it's one of those electronic machines built by Republican sponsors with no audit trail you can bet the Republicans will win.

That's perfectly legal.

Something to consider, people who aren't registered are more likely to lean towards the Dums, which is why the Dums are always pushing voter registration while the Repugs are always trying to limit voter registration.

Most major cities are. Rebulican politics is pretty anti city, since cities need services and regulations.

last election, Republican Sam Katz won 49% of the vote. 'experts' on tv say that he is the favourite especially after a disastrious Street administration. many think this election will divide along racial lines like it did last year with blacks voting for the black street and whites, asians, and puerto ricans voting for the white katz

You need to start electing Republican mayors so you don't keep pushing clowns like Rendell on the rest of the state.

Voter registration lists are public record. Any con artist worth his salt would have one, but both parties go out and do voter drives, etc. One of the biggest harvesting places is naturalization ceremonies, because statistics show that initial voter registrations among newly naturalized citizens go between 2/3 and 3/4 to the party who has the Presidency.

When I voted in California in 1980, despite state laws againt politicking within 100 feet of a polling place, all of the polling place volunteers managed to find parking places near the entrance to the polling place, well within the 100 feet limit, so they could prominently display their bumper stickers with the outline of California and the big letters "REAGAN COUNTRY."
