Why don't you just tell the player through the ReadMe or an event to give the file only a certain name? That way you don't have to worry about the endless other possibilities.

It's a pitty I cannot offer you any othert advice on this. But my programming skills are very bad. I'm already glad when I can get a very primitive Turbo Pascal Programm to work properly.

My advice would be to ask the player to name the file save.sav. 
Or you could tell the player nt to change the leader name, and switch back to the origninal one.
