Just got SMAX from the Laptop Collection after seeing it mentioned here. Installed SMAX. Unlike my SMAC games, though, all the sound effects loop, pop, and click a lot. Tried the d3d and EAX fixes, tried updating my sound driver. Anything else work?

No, I'm running Win98SE. I searched the web for more solutions, nothing came up. What's different in SMAX that makes this happen (as opposed to SMAC). Anybody?
