Our team's future.... Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

Hello all, I'm semi back. First of all, I apologize for not coming here often. I have kind of stepped away from anything Civ while ago, but maybe C3C might change things. Truth is, I dont even know where my PTW disc is. Yeh, Civ is that away from my life As of this moment....

Well I guess this sort of makes it interesting though, no? Any time I show up on this forum would be a very special ocassion!

Secondly, I like to thank you people for keeping the team going. Where I was too lazy to continue my ideal for the team, you guys kept the team alive. Kudos

And finally, I liked to ask an important question about what you envision for the future, goals and all that stuff for the tems are. When I had a team in mind, I thought I would create a team like Toga and FP's where competitively winning wasnt a priority to the team. PTW II first started as a relaxation game from the PTW I competitive play. But it seems like everyone has somehow reverted the game into the ISDG mood while setting aside all the interesting and unique team theme as merely for role play enviornment.

And in addition, I think we lack long term planning for our team. Perhaps from lack of participation and members, we dont have enough manpower to get everything organized, but it would be a good insight to see where they see our team heading, what government we will adopt ultimately, what kind of military strategies we will employ etc etc...

For Roleplay, I must warn you (and pretty much everyone in the team), it's not really in my genes... I can get a couple of monkey-oriented joke once in a while, but I'm not really the kind of guy who walks around all day like a monkey just for the fun of pretending to be a monkey...

As much as I like our theme, it's mostly playing Civ and the people that drwas me here, not monkeydom.

As for the long term strategy, I have my little idea, but I don' think we can plan 200 turns in advance without throwing everything overboard a couple of times. It all depends on the situations that are presented to us. Think of me as the opportunist civer. I'll go to war when I have a good occasion to do so, I'll build when the games dictates me to do so. I think it's the most efficient way to play Civ, as you can adapt easily to anything that is thrown to you, instead of beelining for a precise goal.

I say that our main goal should be winning, and doing all that's socially acceptable in order to get to this ultimate goal. But if we're beaten, the eh! what can you do about it? We would have faced a better team! I never play Civ to lose, and I think everyone can share this opinion.

PtWDG II is indeed a relaxation game... You won't see me b*tching (publicly I mean ) about an other player or about an other team, because it just doesn't feel right in the frame of the game. It doesn't feel right, period.

Got spare money?

I think we have been doing some long term planning, we are discussing the second core.

And have reached an agreement with CoD on a tech exchange.

We have also discussed our policy of no tree cutting, and how we are going to refine it.

Im with Kon, Im not taking this too seriously but Im playing to win or at least do well.

(Thats why Im always pushing the limits of cutting down jungle! )

And I brought up the idea of eventually reforestation of the south Tundra, because it fits the theme and it will help us out.

So we have done some of it in fits and spurts, but I guess you have a point we dont have a long term overall strategy.

Maybe thats where you can help us out?

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Ditto for me.

I play to win. I dont roleplay much, and figured monkeys would be the easiest when compared to the other teams.

It does seem, that although all the other teams are sticking to their themes for a bit of fun, we are the only team who has implemented a policy which will restrict our play.

As it turns out, we dont have a lot of jungle around us, so it's not hurting us too much yet. Plus we have to reforrest the tundra down south anyway.

I think we dont need any long term policy just yet. There is no need to enforce reforrestation on other teams and make us a mark for elimination.

Explore first and get a good feel of our map.
Its hard to make long term plans when we have no idea what our world is like.

Immediate plans call for our core, resource claim & land claim. We cant do much more than that.

Yup - it all works for me. I am playing for fun. But heh - I was playing ptwdg1 for fun too.

As to the long-term - I am consistent with the theme. Let's play to win, but I am not hung up on winning. I like our eco theme we have going. It appeals to the tree hugger in me, and I'm pretty sure we can get it to work in the game without handicapping us. I guess I am leaning towards a builder approach, but as Kon mentioned, opportunistic works well too.

And yes - I like the players on this team. The dialogue has been straightforward and positive.

btw - I invited tkmjcw to join the team. He seems like a decent guy.

So Zero - what is up? You going to stay for awhile, or is this just a cameo appearance.

j/k Hope yu are doing OK and can stick with us for awhile. At least be around in case we need new members authorized.
