DanQ explained this a couple of months ago when we had the server trouble. A limit has been set on the load on the server. When this limit is passed, you will get this message.

He was a bit vague on what exactly comprised this limit, but he did state, in response to a question from rah, that it is not as simple as X users logging on at the same time.

What? He's a hell of a lot more polite than some characters who frequent the OT. Except that judging by the rest of the A&A thread, it would appear that he can back up his bragging with achievements, unlike most of those blowing their own trumpets on a more regular basis.


[On topic] Rather than having people allowed on the site when use is restricted on the basis of post count, why not on the date of registration? This wouldn't encourage spamming because once you're registered there's nothing you can do to change the date, super-mod powers notwithstanding....
