Breaking alliances does not happen easily in Demo PBEMS.
Partners yes... but alliances no.

But it is worth a shot.
It may even make them delay their offensive by a turn or more.

But you get my drift.

Hmmm - I like it too. Great job H_E.

I don't know if we want to say they causght us with our pants down. Makes us sound like a cake walk - whcih is a good reason for them to continue on their current path.

I suggest we say we were clearly surprised by their move, and we have to react quickly. However, they also need to know that sooner or later they will hit a stack of NM's, and the going will get tough. And that we will not die easily.

Then put the offer out to them much as H_E has suggested, with all the contriteness, etc ,etc..

Send it soon before they get to play the next turn.
They could possible build roads on the tile they are standing, and then turn their army right around now and destroy their cities.

If they move forward, then they will need to build roads on the next tile to turn the army around, and a surprise attack will be lost.


If you catch Octx in chat, make sure he realises it's going to be bloody. His swords against our NM's are going to hurt both of us. CoD will be the only winners.
The have a tech advantage, Better land, and better location, are building a better economy, while be bash our heads against each other.



PS .. I dont think they will take the bait... but it is worth a try.

Con - can you ask both CoD and Python about the following:

Gentlemen - as we head into an interesting phase of the game, we would like to clarify a point of conduct. Beta would like to post a new thread in the public forum, which, if anybody puts 2 and 2 together, will figure out what is going on over here. He wants to introduce everyone to SPAM - the Society for the Prevention of Aggression against Monkeys. He has some campaign literature planned, along with some heart-rending pictures.

But as we have clearly not met all civs in the world yet - this is, at some level, sharing info that would not normally be known. Beta assures me that the intent is solely for entertainment purposes, and hopefully liven up a pretty dead forum, but undertstands if you would rather that this not happen - given that he might - er - sway - albeit, purely by accident - world opinion.

We acknowledge that this is intended to be more light-hearted affair, but we also acknowledge that it is still a legit civ3 demo game, so we seek your approval before doing so. Please let us know. Thanks.

Given the peace offer - as per the turn and CoD thread - I was wondering if we could really make some diplomatic hay out of it with Python. As in simply sending them a screenshot of the peace offer - and then seeing where it goes.

You gotta belive that sooner or later Python will come to their senses and see how they are being manipulated in this endeavour. Maybe this peace offer will be the wedge we need,

Then again - if CoD is not sincere - and I sort of doubt they are (the sinking of our galley for example) - Python may be aware of CoD's ploy.
