Just thought of something you could bring up.
One of my "issues" with CoD was that I said that we were virtually giving away our territory map by letting their scout through to get the hut.
I was trying to get them to agree to a world map trade at a later date.
It would make us equals in knowledge
It would make border negotiation so much easier.
But CoD felt that their map was far more valuable than ours, and wanted to put the discussion on hold. (ie they have no plans on doing it)
Perhaps Monty would like to do a world map trade ?
Both theirs and our maps value is low, because CoD has mapped out both of our territories.
But if we combined our maps, then both of us can "catch up" to the knowledge base of CoD.
The reason I say do this, is because if Monty & CoD trade maps, then neither of them would have any incentive to trade it with us.
We have to try and work out how allied Monty & CoD are. If CoD is trying to maintain their tech supiority against Monty as well, then we have a common interest in catching up.

Reply from Monty, pretty non commital (dont say anything about spelling Beta! )

Greetings to you, the Jungle-Dwellers!
I am Octavian X, Prime Minister, Supreme Despot, and all around useless fat
guy of the Castle of Loimbard. We greet you with the hopes of peace for
years to come. In addition, we also present this shrubbery as a gift of our
gratitude for not making us cut down any mighty trees with herrings.
We are intrigued by your proposals of a map trade, exploration agreement,
and tech deals, and will discuss both of those proposal amongst ourselves.
Once we've got and idea of how we wish to procede, you will be contacted.
We, of course, apoligize for our intrustions in the Monkey Kingdom. We will
be finishing up in the area very soon, and will remove ourselves in a timely
manner.
For future reference, I believe DaveMcW of our team volunteered to act as an
ambassador to your fair nation. He, myself, or SirRalph may be contacted at
any time for diplomatic messages.
Regards,
Octavian X
P.S.: send coconuts! |
I hope this means the warrior will go north as I asked!
Also It would be helpfull for me if we could post a running list somewhere of whcih techs we have and which techs we got in trade and can not trade to someone else.
Could someone volunteer to be a Minister of Simian Science and accomplish that?

Finally an answer back from Monty Python:
quote:
Hi conmcb25!
Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for the past week. Feel free to throw bananas at me, they can't be as bad as the coconuts my team is throwing at me!
quote:
Please let me know who you want to be the Monkey Ambassador and Ill direct my future corrospondence to him, That way I can avoid the shotgun email approach
|
That would be me. You can reach me at mcwill13@msu.edu or by private message (email will probably get a faster response).
quote:
We would also like to discuss a free exploration agreement. That means we get to explore where each other wants EXCEPT that we both agree to avoid each others culture rings. Please discuss and let us know what you think of this. Both CoD and we have agreed to a similar agreement.
|
This has been our unofficial policy too. It looks like everyone is behaving with their explorers, let me know if you have any problems.
quote:
A couple of issues, when its available we would like you to consider a map trade, we believe that would be mutually beneficial to both and would enable the both of us to have the same knowledge as CoD with there ever speedy scouts. Please discuss and let us know what you think, we still have time until map making.
[/qoute]
I will put the map trade to a vote. It does seem logical to pool our resources to get the same knowledge as CoD.
[quote]
Finally we would also like to begin discussing tech trades. We are on board with CoD's plan to race for Republic and would like to discuss how the Monkey- Monty Python trades would fit into this scheme.
|
Monty Python is going for Mathematics/Currency, which will will trade to CoD for Republic. We would love to trade for Map Making too. It will be challenging to make a fair trade with our techs, but I'm sure we can figure something out. We will have Currency in about 6 turns, how are you doing with Map Making?
May your bananas always outnumber your fleas,

Dear Dave
Greetings from those hairy creatures down south!
Sorry about the delay in finally replying, I have been busy and the team has been busy as well.
We would be more than happy to trade you mapmaking for any tech we do not have yet. We believe you are researching along the top of the tech tree and whatever you have to trade would be fine, adjusted for points between the two techs as usual. We would be more than happy to give you an IOU if the trade favors us or would hope that you would reciporcate if the deal favors Monty.
We would be more than happy to trade maps as well. We have CoD's map and would hope that would be worth a tech point or two.
We were wondering what your plans are for getting Republic. The price from CoD has been steep. We were wondering if you would like to enter an agreement were one of us researches and the other funds the accelerated research of the first. After we are dome we share the tech. Would you be interested insomething like that? Please let us know. The longer we both take to get Republic the farther CoD is going to get ahead of us.
And again great doing business with you guys.!
The Monkey Team hopes there are many fine shurberries in your future
conmcb25 (Steve)
Monkey Ambassador)
PS: Forwarded to Sir Ralph as well

Greeting apes, gorillas, and chimpanzees!
The philosophers over at Monthy Python notice you have discovered how to draw maps. We are happy to trade for this technology, would you like to make an offer?
My team has also agreed to exchange world maps if you like.
