turn 52 1710 BC Increase Your PM Length

Suggestions for troop movements (see my screenshot thread for details)

Short term plans:
According to F3 there are olmec tribes close to riverside(c#3), I suggest we send jag 'asskicker' NW of c#3 and waterboy to the SW of the city.
Jag 'jaguars are..' should head home, our empire are almost without protection.

Long term plans:
Jag 'today or uday' should explore south and east of our land, it's important that we stick to low ground to fully take advantage of our 2 movement point
Jag 'dangeruesfdsad¤#"¤%' should go N-NW
Jag 'steve' should continue west

We are building silly amounts of jags right now but pop are so low that we cannot build settlers or workers at the moment.

Once we have enough jags to cope woth barbs and pose enough of a deterrent to our neighbours (are we strong relative to all of them?) then perhaps we ought to build a few barracks to slow down jag production a little until we have the population for a few more workers and settlers.

The work force in the capital needs to be altered next turn. It should work the 2 mined tiles and none of the irrigated FP's so that it grows and builds the JW in 1 turn.

Sunshine have built a city to their SE, we really need to claim the land directly south of the sealake.

City 2 was called "pleasetradetechwithus" untill SS agreed to sell us BW.

Idealy I think we should get SS to agree that it is our land

I was thinking of perhaps building 2 worker camps with the next 2 cities? Perhaps 11 and 99 of the capital where both would have access to 2 floodplain tiles?

OK, I've updated and labelled the city placement map a bit and put it in the 'screenshot thread'. I suggest that our next settler are sent to 'P4' to establish a border vs the hippies.

Everybody okay with me starting the screenshot thread BTW?

Put an end to popups!

Agree with sending the next settler to P4 - once we've got that city there (and scheduled a few jags and spears to guard it) we should maybe discuss with SS about having a border run due south from the small lake (just west of P4).

P4 is a fairly important city for us, since it is basically going to be he gateway between us and SS for quite a while. Claiming the land with a city is the best way forwards I think.

I agree.

A suggestion to out capital city:

We should take 5 resources and build a granary quickly.

We build a granary in 12 turns, meanwhile the pop is going to 5!
Then our capital city a is very good settler output...
...for example -> settler, worker, 10 or 20 resource unit and settler again - and so on...

What do you thinking about?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

A suggestion to »Thankyou«

Changing production to worker (5 turns)

»Thankyou« grows in 5 turns too and can going on with pop 2 with 2 food and 2 resource again.

Interesting.

I've been looking into the capital, at the moment it is poised to be a 9 turn settler pump at size 3/4.

For a while I've thought it would be a good idea to have it at size 5 to have 4 excess growth and 5 sheilds per turn.

Unless I'm mistaken the quickest it could build a granary and be at size 5 would be 14 turns. Building the granary on the 13th and growing to 5 on the 14th.
It can then build a settler every 6 turns (perhaps even every 5 turns).

If it were to just produce settlers, it would mean 1 less settler in the short term but more in the long term. Here is how long it would take to build settlers.

No gran - 9turns, 18, 27, 36, 45
Granary - 20turns, 26, 32, 38, 44

If we were to build a granary in the capital I think we would have to build a stlr in the 2nd city straight away. To make up for the less expansion in the short term.

I'm also worried by how far into the game we are, it's 1750 and we haven't expanded that much, we are likely to be quite far behind typical expansion rates.

Yeah, we're the only ones who play this game in the intended lighthearted way

Seriously, you're all right. We're too far behind

Perhaps the problem is that we have been playing this almost like a succession game where we don't care too much about telling the next guy what is supposed to happen?

Two obvious solutions:
One dedicated player.
More thing get decided in the forum rather than in the players head.

I don't know that we're that far behind, although we had an ugly looking start position. We're third in land area. Since I doubt anyone has built a temple yet, that basically means that only 2 civs have more cities than us at the moment (unless someone's being really cramming them in). We're last in population, meaning that those civs with the same number of cities as us are closer to getting their next settlers out. I'd be amazed if any civ only had 2 cities at the moment, so we're very likely last, but not by too much now that our capital is in a reasonable settler pump operating range.

cool, perhaps your right Vult

Also the years have started going slower so perhaps we are not as far into the game as I thought the year is actually 1725bc

Turn played and sent to SS.

capital will finish JW and grow to 3 next turn. Some reshuffling of workforce will have to be done.
research on 0% waiting for SS to finish writing.

moved the JW's around without finding anything..

I'm unsure about only having one player Bongo. We can probably get the turn orders sorted before the save arrives reasonably ok.... I've told Zargon for Tabe that he needs to be sending you the saves aswell.

I'm a great fan of pre planning turns.

In the moment is it so, that we only decide what's going on with our JW's.
That's ok, so we have to react to the barb moves

I think it will be a good decision for the future, we pre planned all.

Our weakest point is the micromanagement.
We are only 7. in productivity - that's not good...
...and we can change it.

So I will ask the rest of the team:
I can make a pre planning of micromanagement, means:

1) What are the city build for the next 20 turns
2) What are the worker have to to, that our three citys can make the procucivity they realy can do.

Team, what do you say about this offer?

Would you mind me helping out with the managment of the capital?

I'm starting to think the granary in the capital isn't the best way forward. It looks likely that we will be in Republic before the Granary would have paid itself off and once in Rep food will be no problem whatsoever. Also I think there is alot of benefit in getting the cities built sooner.

I believe it's possible to have the capital producing a settler every 9 turns as it is, although it relies on setting the governor to emphasis production and having him put the labourer on the right tile.

Basically we work the 2 floodplains and the wheatplains to give growth in 5 turns and 3 shields per turn. On the fifth turn when it grows it puts the new guy on the mined plains so that we have 17 sheilds from the first 5 turns. Then at size 4 we work 3 irrigated flood plains and the wheat plains to give 3 spt and growth in 4 turns. On the forth turn when the cities grows it should again place the labourer on the mined plains to make it up to 31 sheilds thus buiding the settler and reducing to size 3 again.

Other than that I think growth, ie. workers and settlers should be prioritized over millitary.

Thank you OPD

All what you are write down is correct.

When we calculate the next 20 turns, so everybody should say, what he want.

Granary was only a idea, while my first look into the game

What I exactly mean is:

1) The team say, what we should build in the future
2) On the basic we can calulate AND write it down, from witch city square the profit should be taken.
3) On this basic, we can calculate what the worker have to do.

Ok in the immediate futre I like to see 3 settlers built, (2 from the capital).

IMO I don't think we need any more JW's built that soon other than the 2 currently being built in 2nd and 3rd city. So I think all focus should be on settlers and workers.

My idea for the 3rd city was that it should grow to size 3 then work 2 irrigated floodplains and one irrigated plain to produce 2 sheilds per turn and 4 excess food. So that it could repeatedly build a worker every 5 turns.

Ok, that's working for me

1) We have JW's enough for the moment
2) Settler will build in capital without granany
3) 3rd city will improve to build worker

1) Do we? Are that before or after those who are currently being built are finished.

Sidenote. Judging by the minimap we are close to the south-pole. The jag sent SE will probably not find much land(and none other civs) but it is land we can keep to ourself. I doubt we will find anything SW of SS but we'll do it anyway.
