quid = slang for £1

as has been stated 100 pence = £1

If that is confusing you should have tried the pre-decimalization money (we changed in 1971), 12 pence = 1 shilling, 20 shillings (240 pence) = £1, £1 and 1 shilling = 1 guniea

ehh, it's not confusing now that i know what the terms mean. i thought it was similar to all that shillings and stuff now, but as it's not, then never mind. not confusing at all lol.

quid is also the plural for quid

ie 1 quid, 10 quid etc

I saw an ad the other week by an American who ships goods into the UK, offering to 'save loads of quids' whereas 'save loads of quid' is the correct form :O)
