Actually, lots of people say they are wrong. Its just that they don't provoke much converstion by admitting their fault - unless they are a mod, of course.

All that aside (the ghen link etc.) the FAQ probably could do with an update. Just recently, I found and outdate line, and I'm sure there are others.

I really don't care what get's people banned, but the general stuff in the FAQ is probably at least a couple of years old.

So maybe Mark or Dan should add

Item # X) Update FAQ

to the bottom of their to-do-lists

DrSpike: I don't care about my ban, and yes it was very short. This thread isn't about my ban, I'm just using the experience to get my point across.

Heck, I didn't even have time to post last week even if I wanted to, so the ban itself actually did nothing to me.

In my jaded view, the porn site I linked to was more artistic and had a neighborly feeling to it than you might think since its all amateurs who upload pictures of themselves. Therefore to me, it wasn't sexually explicit considering its just nudes. Of course what I think and what is allowed is different and I agree with Ming and MtG on my fault since it would only get worse if my post was allowed, but in no sense at the time did I think I was breaking any of the rules in the FAQ. And now, since I know the FAQ is old and there's been one rule that I think should be added then I assume there are others.

The moderators here are picked very well, the cream of the crop if you may, but that just means you have people who take the rules for granted since they know the breadth and depth of each word of the FAQ. The average poster on the other hand doesn't have this intimacy and might make a mistake.

Is it ok for your 7 year old to be reading a thread called I'm a pervert and any of its included content? Like I said, since the thread was allowed I thought my link would be ok. Plus I didn't know 7 year olds (or anyone less than 14) read stuff here since Civ is a very adult oriented game. I'm sorry I posted it, and I know its wrong now, but that doesn't hide the fact that the rules are unclear about the subject.

If I had posted a link to a website that shows how to hack norton's antivirus (if I knew one, just an example) it would be just as wrong as a porn link but there wouldn't be so many people getting angry on this thread without listening to my underlying plea. Please keep this on the subject at hand, I'm only using myself as an example of how the wrong thing happens to posters who think they aren't doing bad, and I only posted my feelings on the link to show how I felt at the time of posting. Do I have to say that I was wrong again? I was wrong, I'm sorry. Now read the rest of my posts.

No, I'm not a father, I'm only 23, but if I had a pre-teen child I would restrict his/her internet use very strictly anyway so accidents don't have to be worried over.

Install Windows XP Home and set up your account to be password lockable by using the 'switch user' command and give your child his own account. Or better yet if your child is older, install Professional and use the 'lock workstation' option as a very robust way to prevent accidental sightings / deletions of basically anything since your account will have administrator privileges and your child will have restricted privileges.

NO!

Most of the people in the OT are mature enough to handle what's in the OT.

Did I just say that?

What I'm trying to get across is that even if someone there is under 18, the sort of sick, twisted person who would be attracted to the OT wouldn't be disturbed

Let's not go overboard here either ok. do you mean you never saw a nude person before or at that age???
I personally wouldn't care btw, it's all part of growing up IMO.

*- I'm talking about a person in the nude, not the other stuff (for a 7 year old)
