	The FAQ needs updating Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I got banned recently because I linked to a porn site in the OT. I'm not complaining about the rule as I think its definitely justified and I was wrong. The thing is, after getting banned I read the FAQ again (been a while, I'd forgotten the whole thing basically) and there was no mention of linking to porn or warez sites being condemned.

What I'm asking for is the moderators get together and make a list of stuff they ban people for in a very general way e.g.: You will most likely be banned for posting links to websites deemed offensive or illegal by the moderators.

I'm sure this isn't the only undocumented rule, and if you want I will personally make the list for submittal to the FAQ to update the current list already there. I won't make the rules of course since I don't post on a regular basis, I'll just get the ideas from the different forum moderators and then generalize them to make a short list.

Well the list of things you might get banned for is rather long, and most of the things you would get banned for with no prior warning are pretty obvious abuses.

There are other things the FAQ needs to cover first.

Well lets post them :P FAQs are just text files with a single hyperlink change from the top of the page, if we make a list of stuff to update it would be rather easy, as long as the rules are very general.

I will also say that it is impossible to do a total list of what is allowed and what isn't. There is no way we could anticpate what some fool might do... and the first thing they will say is "it doesn't say that you can't do EXACTLY that in the FAQ"

So "use your common sense" is an important catch all phrase...

Yes, common sense. Especially considering that in the faq it says (under the things most likely to get me banned)

"No explicit sexual discussion allowed"

It's hard to believe that links to porn sites would be allowed if explicit sexual discussions aren't.

How about :

Apolyton is a family site. Please don't post anything you wouldn't want your parents to read, or if you are a parent, anything you wouldn't want your kids to read. Use your common sense, and we'll all get along fine. Linking to illegal or adult material falls in the same category as actually posting it. So don't.

Or something along those lines

Obviously Ming and Rah are going to think its just common sense for what they ban people, if it were though you wouldn't have to ban people at all anymore except those that make honest mistakes.

Wether you like it or not, not everyone that posts here has your level of common sense, expecially if the lines are blurred with the thread I mentioned previously.

While that makes it somewhat obvious, he did post the link in a thread titled I'm a pervert.

Whether or not this was sexually explicit or not, I don't know, but, from the title, the line had already been crossed, he just revved up the engines after crossing it.
