Is Unit trading featured in Conquests? Increase the size of your Attachments

What I mean is when you can exchange units with other Civs like we could do in SMAC so as to perhaps wage a proxy war by supplying an friendly Civ with troops.

I thought I saw it mentioned early in development that this was going to be included in Conquests, but I don't seem to have seen anyone mention it since its release.

Can anyone confirm whether its in the game or not?

It's not in the game (nor do I recall any reference to it being included, despite the wishes of some modders).

About the only thing I have seen is MP players staging fake wars to trade units.

But you can trade this way only units that have no hit points and can be captured (catapults, cannonss, etc)

You can trade workers however.

Unit trading will be and has been sorely missed (not likely it'll ever be in now?)

Thats a real shame, it was one of my favourite features in SMAC. I'm sure I read about its inclusion in a interview with one of the Firaxis programmers, but maybe I'm wrong.

Either way it looks like the only way to support an allie without declaring war yourself is going to be the usual gifts of money, techs or resources again. Although in the past I have helped an allie by agreeing a right of passage treaty then sending some troops to block an important land pass to the enemy.

Got spare money?

This question has come up since day 1 of civ3. And though many players miss it, I honestly don't.

In SMAC, I mostly traded terraformers anyhow.

hi ,

together with canals , unit trading and a couple small mods to the editor one would have a game that would be as easy to play and as easy to make things with it as in civ II , its a bit a shame it aint in it , but maybe its not possible or so , .....

it would expand the options a great deal

have a nice day

Right, leave it out of the epic game, for whatever reasons.

But leave it as an editor option, for the modders. Shouldn't be too hard, since we can already trade Workers.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I would definately like to hear something on this from firaxis.

How hard would it be to create an "allow unit trading option" in the editor with a patch. If worker trading can be done than I see no reason to not give the possibility of unit trade to all other units in the game.

canals would also be an awesome terrian improvement and it is a shame that we are unlikely to get imporvements like this in patches. Canals have played a vital role in history and could be extremely useful in Civ.

I admit it would be quite useful at times to be able to traverse the odd chokepoint from one sea to the next without needing a city (although foudning one is not so hard - it's the defending it that would take the effort!), or to have a city away from the coast yet be able to build ships. However this presents the problem of whether canals could only be crossed by the civ that controls the territory there - if so, then the inland city could build ships to their heart's content, and it would be safe from any counter-attacking bombardment from offshore.

Suffering from ads?

Perhaps canals could be traversable by members of opposite civs but entering another civs canal would mean a declaration of war.

hi ,

, , canals should be able for all civs to be crossed , however one should be able to place limits on it , like for example ; " can only be crossed by allies " , if an other civ would try to sail true it or cross it , it would stand as a declaration of war , .......

Got spare money?

Considering the diplomacy in Civ3 is already a mixed bag at best, it probably would take more than just a "flag" or quick edit to include unit trading for SP. It would probably be way too easy to exploit the AI.

For MP... well, that's a different story.
