Is that a 4/5 elite horseman on lookout duty on the gold mountain 222 of their iron? Why in the hell would you use an elite horseman for such a task?

Barb hunting. It could have been a vet and then was promoted to elite.

I think GCA may have shifted much of its army elsewhere, which is why they only attacked with 2 Horsemen. That may be all they have/had in Catchopolis.

Ah, barb hunting. That would certainly explain the missing hp. Attacking up a mountain would do that, even with a combat bonus v. barbs.

Fair 'nough... though I cannot imagine why I'd send a veteran attack unit off barb hunting while a powerful enemy invasion force was chewing its way through my empire.

They probably expected to have a few more turns before we would be approaching Catchopolis.

Of course, either way, it's pretty stupid. Though they do have a new city down there, silks and 2 Workers. All probably undefended except for whatever Horsies they might have down there. Very good targets for barbs or our naval landing.

Yeah, the galley... might have been shadowing it with 2 horsies, and then saw the barb camp and decided to take it out... after all, 25 gold = 5 gold more than 1 spear to pike upgrade.

Wanna place bets on our Numidian being dead next turn + no GA, despite being on forest?

Despite all the suspicions, an OK exchange this turn. They cannot win a war of attrition.

And btw, may I humbly suggest we stop naming units Trips Guard. They don't seem to do very well in battle. I think it is all the pampering they get as Trip's personal guard. A little less glamour and glitter, and a little more drill may be in order.

That really should be at something like 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 odds. So if you owe him $15 if he wins, he should only owe you $5 or $7.50 if you win
