Well, because of a sudden change in Dolores's employment situation we may be traveling in the next few weeks. If you're interested in joining us let me know. We'll be there until May or June, likely doing this every winter from here on out.

Well ok Che, nuts in some other way.

I believe we're safer over there than in most places in the US btw. Did you know that in the US you can get killed in a drive by shooting or other gang/drug related violence? If you go to those places that is. Same in the Phils. We avoid Manila and Mindanao. Manila has the hostage for ransom people and Mindanao has Moslem seperatists. We fly into Cebu and are met by family...once we get to our little island it's time to relax and enjoy.

I feel as safe in the Bohol as I do in Oregon. Here we don't worry about LA gangs or other *******s...in Bohol we don't worry about moslem wackos.

More than 100,000 Americans live permanantly in the Philippines, some in the problem places I mentioned.

Thanks Lancer. I am going to Thailand on the 9th of December from Los Angeles. It could still work out though. I will let you know if I can work it out but right now it doesn't look too hopeful. There is a possibility that I could make a quick trip to the Philippines and return to Thailand, so we will have to wait and see...

Wow, that was unexpected.

Speaking off the top of my head, I don't see how I can get away before the end of the year. And after about March, we'll be in contract negotiations because our union contract runs out next summer.

It is conceivable that I might possibly be able to get away in January or February, but I can't make any promises at this point. What's the best way for me to contact you in the Phils if it turns out I can get away?

Guidelines on Entry Visas of Temporary Visitors to the Philippines
A. Nationals from countries listed below are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas for a stay not exceeding twenty-one (21) days, provided they hold valid tickets for their journey to port of origin or next port of destination. Department regulations require that passports are valid for a period of not less than six (6) months beyond the contemplated period of stay. However, Immigration Officers at ports of entry may exercise their discretion to admit holders of passports valid for at least sixty (60) days beyond the intended period of stay.

B. Nationals from the following countries are allowed to enter the Philippines without a visa:

C. The following nationals are allowed to enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay not exceeding seven (7) days.

1. Holders of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) passports.
2. Holders of British National Overseas (BNO) passports.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Huh, it's always been 21 days for me until I got married to Dolores. Now we get our visa stamped "bulikbayan' (sp) and get a year because I married a Filipina.

Zkribbler, within 21 days we have to go to Cebu and get you guys an extention which will last 2 months, unless you get one before you go. I understand that can be done at the Philippine consulate website, though I've never done that myself. I hear that at the site you can get a 6 month one also...but not sure.
