My dad once shared some of the wisdom by which he lived. He said "don't **** where you eat". This had to do with chasing girls where one works.

My mother, who was truly wise, except for the fact that she married my dad, said, "life is long, you'll get over it". This had to do with things that bothered, but the wisdom of it was that it also applied to life itself.

Your parents have any sayings?

My Mother:
There are many ways to attract women.

1. Be good looking and wealthy. Better have a backup plan.

2. Demonstrate your skills at cleaning and cooking, since most women will fool themselves into thinking you'll continue to do them once married.

3. Have a good sense of humor. It helps when times are dark.

My dad used to say that too. Well, there's no danger of that, my current workplace is so devoid of women it isn't funny any more.

I learned how to be a great parent: when you have to take a decision, think at how they dealed with you and do the exact opposite- always works

He was referring to a spanking, which was odd because I never cried from being spanked.

Mom: "The woman in your (future) life is going to have to get used to taking second place in your life."

I think she used to say this because I used to check out of the abusive dynamic in the household. Or perhaps she felt that I wasn't paying enough attention to her, or not doing enough in her eyes to parent my sister. Typical narcissist. I never responded, but simply rolled my eyes at her self-serving predictions.
