Maybe this will help:

Clue4: In the first game you escape your location by the classic Enid Blyton-esque trick of using a nail to poke out the key on the other side of a door, after of course sliding a newspaper under it so that you can retrieve the key when it falls.

well its the fact of there being four of them that was giving me a hard time.
I been looking through some retro sites and i think i've found the answer, not many went past a trilogy in those days.

EDIT: once i'd seen the title i do remember it as being one of the famous adventures of the time - did it come as free software with a spectrum at one point?

It's clearly the original spectrum version of Myst. Don't know why I didn't spot that before.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I remeber the game, but not the name. If it's what I think it is then it came out on C64 too.

Hey Dale,

We could turn this into part of the game - if we give vague answers Dr.Spike will have to try to guess what we mean, and thus if we got it right

I would add i did use google(bad) to get a list of spectrum sites, then had a few hours(good) fun browsing and laughing at the disgusting neon colour graphics

I would say the third in the series is the most memorable for me, it might just be the name - not sure?? I'm 99.9% certain they didn't come out on the Atari 8bits. maybe C64 although i kinda have a feeling they may have been Spectrum exclusive?:

BB: No
CoT: You are disqualified, but PM me what you think, because you might be wrong from the looks of it.

Clue 5: I played the initial trilogy at a young age, where the immense amounts of toilet humour in the games made me laugh my ass off.

Ok maybe it is too hard.

Blatant clue: The place from which you are trying to escape in all the games of the initial trilogy is an outdoor toilet.

It was a cult classic, but maybe outside of the text adventure scene it is not well known.

Well the trilogy is better known.........though there was a fourth game.

Um, as for clues there aren't really any more. Come on, 3 games concerned with escaping from an outdoor toilet.......if you cant get it from that no one can have played it I think.

Just in case: You are Balrog. John Wilson, head of Zenobi games was responsible for this cult classic.

NO GOOGLING THOSE NAMES!!

Hmmm....
since the thread title is "Name the Game - part 3"...

So I shall name that game as "Return from the bowl, parts 1, 2 and 3", and the fourth is called "owl in the bowl - tale of two apples swallowed whole"

... and do I win?

Hehe but this game is not obscure, it's just the players are inept.

It is of course the fondly remembered (but not by you lot obviously ) Behind Closed Doors trilogy, soon followed by a further game featuring Balrog, who has the unfortunate tendency to get trapped in toilets. Veritable classics.
