I agree. I think we absolutely should have the *option* to have games with modified rules recorded in the hall of fame, by for example having one hall of fame for the basic game and another for any variations.
This is especially considering not all rules modifications are done to get higher scores; the only thing I have changed is all the civs' colors to be separate so that they won't change depending on other civs in the game. (The same thing I did with vanilla Civ3 and PTW, resulting in my never being able to utilise the hall of fame!)
Of course I can do the statistics by hand or edit the HoF file manually, but I would very much like it to work automatically, the way it should. I don't think a Hall of Fame record is a proof of authenticity under original rules anyway, considering it can be changed... so there definitely should be a similar (separate, if you want to) record of games played under modified rules.
