Got spare money?

Swindon completes Barracks. Order Spearman (5 turns, after shuffling wf in Swindon and Silesia).

Burundy Completes Archer, who moves 4 - order temple (harbor prebuild).

Farley moves 9.

Warrior nearest to Swindon goes into Swindon (may be needed for settler escort). 2 other warriors near swindon fortify, because they've got a great view covered from where they all are now.

Northern scout moves 3.

Northern archer moves 4 onto road.

S. Scout stays put while GIles ensures path is clear.

Izzardia (size 5) is set to growth in 1 turn and settler in 3. It could get growth in 1 turn and settler in 2 by moving wf from Izz-9 (r/grass) ro Izz-8 (r/hill). That would save the wasted food and get the settler quicker, and mean that the settler gets built when izz is at size 6, +5 food. How's that sound?

Republic in 25 turns.

So this is the proposed move, which I won't make yet. If I don't get a green light I'll leave Izz as it was - (settler in 3 turns) - assuming that the settler has to be built later.

I'll wait for a while before playing the turn.

To Clarify - Izz is on 15 food, and one turn of seven and one of eight will be 30. Next turn we want five food, but with eight shields this turn (using the hill) and seven next (grows and can use wine tile) I believe we can shave a turn off the settler without compromising growth.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

It's been an hour - I'm not sure whether to go ahead and risk it. There may be a good reason for not wanting the settler at size six-and-a-half, but getting it a turn early is very tempting.

Shite.

I'm sorry, I just saw all this. I was pondering the same stuff you were last time I looked at the game. Did you go ahead and speed the settler?

Come to think of it, I think you're right... building the settler at size 6.5 is fine.

It's a bit better to build the settler as the city hits size 7, only because then the city drops back to size 5, instead of size 4.5... which ends up resulting in slightly less commerce for us.

Either way it's not huge. Either we waste a turn of production by slowing the settler down, and get the city back on the size 5-7 4-turn settler pump cycle (or 5-6 worker pump), which gives us more commerce that accumulates slowly over time, or we speed the settler along, reducing our commerce output slightly but getting our cities built 1 turn faster than they otherwise would be.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I did speed the settler, and the commerce hit was in the back of my mind, but with the time to Republic down to 25 turns we're not doing badly for commerce. Had it been 29/30 turns I'd probably have gone for the higher base size.

There may be circumstances ahead where we want to lend another city a tile from Izz, which might create a logical opportunity to switch to base 5.

Good, we're agreed then.

So the settler is due in 2 turns.

Then we build a worker or two... must revisit the plan.
