They are only cheaters if they don't replay the turn.
I said: "GWT: Replay the turn, without the EXPLOIT, or get your sorry cheating asses out of the game."
That says that if they don't replay it, then they are cheating. It's a far cry from calling every member on their team a cheater.
They agreed to abide by mongooses ruling's.
They have already complied, once, with a previous turn, using the "fort all" command.
If they refuse to do it again, they are cheating because they are not playing as they agreed to play.
When you don't play by the rules, you are cheating.
Why do I have to be nice about it and beg GWT to play fairly?
A spade is a spade my friends.
This issue lies in the game mechanics and the honor of playing fairly. It has nothing to do with in game diplomacy, though if they wish to carry it over to that side of the game, it's their mistake and they'll pay for it in the long run.
If everyone wants me to be nice to GWT and not call them on their cheating, then I will quit as Consul right now.

Yes, BF they may just be a spade, but you DON'T call them one to their faces, especially when we are having trouble trying to talk to them diplomatically.
If it wasn't for the very fact that your Consul seat was soon to be up for re-election, I would call for a CoC because of making this kind of public statement.
You are supposed to Represent the teams interest and are EXPECTED to be a responcible adult when dealing with the other teams. NOT to get into flames with them!!! This is very disappointing coming from you.

Go ahead with your CoC if it will make you feel better. Don't let anything stop you.
I stood up for what I believe is right. If they don't replay, then they are cheating. There's nothing more to add to that. |
Yes, an adult does have the right to spank his children. but the one problem with that is that they AREN'T your children to spank!
And if they were yours to spank, You might get arrested if you did it in publid, atleast these days, if you were perceived to have been beating then, to the people who are watching.
BF, as much as calling Lucky a cheater to his face is also not a good thing to do, at least publically. Us atalking about it in our private forum, in our secure chat room, with a select members of other teams is one thing, BUT publically almost saying the same things publically, without any backing proof is completely another one.

Playing with the likes of GWT wants to make me quit this game.
GWT has an unfair advantage. They know it. Yet they insist on continuing to play with it. Other teams cry foul, and a disgreement arises.
Fine.
So we do what all civilized persons would do in such situations, and call on a moderator to resolve the dispute.
The moderator rules against GWT, threatening to make them lose their turn if they do not comply (this was a mistake, by the way, but given GWT's further reactions I'm not sure if it really matters).
GWT stubbornly states that they will quit if they do not have their way. Seems to me like they're more interested in being right and winning than having fun.
No amount of damage control (by Beta, the CoC, whatever) can change this last fact. I would rather play against a probably-cheating Lucky/GCA than a boorish GWT.

Let's all be frank now.
We are as pissed as BF for all the trouble GWT has been giving everyone as of late. Yes we know its an exploit, yes, we know if they continue doing it it will be blatant cheating.
This however, is absolutely NO excuse to go and call them "cheating asses" in the public UN forum. I don't give a hoot if that is BF's personal opinion or not, the fact that he is in a leadership position makes such remarks seem "official". And we, as a team, should not be punished by the irresponsible acts of a member.
This comment was totally inapporpriate. Why?
1) We have no need, as a mature and responsible team, to stoop so low as to insults others, regardless of what we may think of them. If GWT said exactly the same to us over any other thing (like the fort all in ships which WE ARE JUST AS GUILTY OF) any one of us, including BF, would be pissed off as hell. Why do you expect then, that GWT will take it another way?
2) Leaders in this team should act like leaders. In other words, act with dignity and restraint, ESPECIALLY in public forums. The world is watching, and we want them to see in us maturity and wisdom. Why did I not insult the heck out of Goonie during our chats? Because it would gain us nothing. With restraint you make the other guy look like an arse. By insulting, we both like like arses.
3) Insulting a team in the public forum may very well carry on to in-game situations. Our relationship with GWT is very picky at the moment, and comments like that can do wonders do damage it irreparably.
Finally, I would just like to say, that despite the fact that the comment was edited eventually (mind you after the entire FAM was pressuring BF to do so) there is no doubt that at least someone from every team got around to reading it. The damage is done.
For this reason, I totally support a single person to resperesent Apolyton in the UN Forum from now on so as to avoid incidents when one person's opinions and comments might end up being interpreted as the voice of our team in general. It takes months of careful diplomacy to get where you are. It takes just a reckless comment to make it all come crashing down.

It's funny how everyone agree with the sentiments of my post but seem to have a problem calling things like they are. This is a game in which I have put a lot of time into it. I dare anyone to tell me they have put in more. Do you think I want GWT to quit? Hell NO! But, I won't play anymore if they want to cheat. My convictions about that are strong enough to overide those about wanting to keep this game going.

Tact, BigFree, for the millionth time, TACT. Just because you think things does not mean you are entitled to go shout it in other people's faces. This is akin to people doing what they want disregarding the law. The result is anarchy. The same thing happens when you allow everyone to say exactly what they think without any form of restraint.
Just so no-one forgets:
Main Entry: tact
Pronunciation: 'takt
Function: noun
Etymology: French, sense of touch, from Latin tactus, from tangere to touch -- more at TANGENT
Date: 1797
1 : sensitive mental or aesthetic perception
2 : a keen sense of what to do or say in order to maintain good relations with others or avoid offense
synonyms TACT, ADDRESS, POISE, SAVOIR FAIRE mean skill and grace in dealing with others. TACT implies delicate and considerate perception of what is appropriate . ADDRESS stresses dexterity and grace in dealing with new and trying situations and may imply success in attaining one's ends .
Tact is one of the most important qualities in a leader. If you don't have tact, you will not get ANY respect because people will be obliged to respond in the same way you treat them.

well, apparently cooler heads at GWT have prevailed and they will continue the game, under protest, whatever that means (perhaps if they lose they will have a rationalization)
whatever, game on.
