che,
quote: Dude, the minute the big C is suspended I'm swimming to the Bahamas. |
Or come down to Texas with me and help me start a resistance movement. I'd be all for armed resistance if this were to happen.
Slowwhand,
quote: Ahhhhh, hell. The Constitution is a guideline.
It gets suspended on occasion. |
That's unconstitutional. The Constitution is NOT a "guideline", it is a firm and binding set of restrictions on the federal government, and, in some cases, on the states.

If we don't have the Constitution to defend in a war, then what is the point?

Your quoting Oscar Wilde? That dude was a nut, get somebody better. Patriotism is simply proud loyalty, my friend.
Armed resistance against the country is treason, punishable by death, and I doubt a group of Texans with hunting rifles could take on the US military.
Besides, the big C will never be suspended and if it did the military wouldn't be for it, every soldier, marine, airman, and seaman take an oath when they enlist to uphold and defend the Consitution from all threats, foreign and domestic. Their oath is to defend Americans and America and by doing this they give their loyalty and their duty to defend the Constitution, I know I took the oath not to long ago.

I seriously doubt that's true. Soldiers are indoctrinated to follow orders, and besides, those who want to suspend the Constitution would find some trumped up "Constitutional" way to do so.

No one would formally repeal or suspend the US constitution. What for? Just creates emotional distress among the peasants. Way easier to further strengthen the oligarchic and authoritarian elements of the political system.
What will happen to all the TV news networks, for example? All news will be FOX news.

I must have missed the part of history where the US was demilitarized. |

Those SCOTUS rulings do not match the wording of the Constitution, or any imaginable intent.
