On the classical angle, if you're looking for something to accompany a tender, light session of snogging, I'd recommend the Adagietto from Mahler's 5th Symphony. It's sublime, and perfect for loving liplocks.

If you're talking all-out sex, probably the worst choice is Bolero. Ok, I can't stand the POS anyway, but I don't see why someone would want thumping timpani and snare drums during sex.

Barber's Adagio is supposedly meant to symbolize the sex between Barber and Giancarlo Menotti, and is certainly orgasmic in its climax. But it's so ingrained in modern minds as a sorrowful piece for war movies that it's hard to recommend.

SO...

I would suggest giving Mahler a try here as well, and let's look at the Andante Moderato from his 6th symphony.*

The theme which opens the movement is quiet and hesitant, uncertain in key--just like those first few awkward touches when new lovers come together. Slowly, the music builds up, becoming ever more louder and impassioned--but then it falls away again into tenderness and quiet. Another build, another fall...passion mingling with tenderness

After about 12 mins of this kind of back-and-forth, the main theme comes in on the strings FORCIBLY, achingly, and we are INEXORABLY led on in a rising, throbbing crescendo until THE MUSIC PULSES INTO A GIGANTIC CLIMAX OF ECSTATIC, WONDEROUS AND SENSUOUS PASSION!!#!(@#)(#))!)!!eeeeerghghggjwejejejeje**

Post-climax is back to quiet, although lacking in the hesitancy of before...more assured, less angst...and we're brought to a delicate close.***

Phew!

*The movement is, on average, about 15 minutes long. Judging by what I know of Apolytoners, judicious use of the FFWD button may be needed. Keep remote handy

**The presence of some conspicuous cow bells in the orchestra at the climax might prove distracting. Not responsible for any bovine imagery during sex.

*** For God's sake, STOP the CD at this point!!! Otherwise your post-coital bliss will be slashed to bits by the hammerblows of Death itself in the final movement.

personally, i usually go in for something either of a rammstein flavor, Rob Zombie, Static-X, nine inch nails, or... heheh.. Orgy. mostly stuff with dance beats.

as for classical music, i've got four words: the rites of spring.

Hrm... I fail to see how anybody can satisfy themselves during the 5 minutes of a single.

As for albums? Song changes - the flow is broken.

I'd definately have to go for classical music, but as for which one(s), I haven't decided.

this, coming from possibly the most undersexed person here? curious. most radio singles are only 3 minutes long too. but a good album is put together so that each song is in its place, giving the work as a whole flow and continuity.
