Well it's actually the British Government's fault - I'm sure the visit team would have been more careful if they had been warned about the sensivity of the grounds and environs.

This might explain though why the Queen looked so unhappy during the visit. She was noticeably out of sorts - I thought she was ill.

Well, I also found it in the metro, a free dutch daily paper (www.clubmetro.nl first page of the 24th of nov) but their source was probably the Mirror. I thiink theres much BS to it too because I know what the Mirror is like, but they can't have people being quoted is there isn't a shred of truth, and the Queen did look out of sorts.

My pro/con monarchist views aside, what a place to land a chopper! And gunships?! yeah, those are needed. How about a private plane to Heathrow and an armoured limo? Bush senior would never have been so crass. (assuming he didn't puke ofcourse.)

More to the point, why did he go to Britain anyway? No cool recepsion, the chances of doing any real buisness were nil and his speeches don't count a damn to the public no matter how well they are written. Waste of good old US taxes! Get back in the whitehouse and do some work!

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I would imagine that the British authorities approved the landing site. Surely, Bush and company weren't just wandering around in the air and just happened to pick the first convenient place.

The only acceptable diplomatic revenge would be for the Queen to send somebody to the White House lawn in the middle of the night, and bury thousands of dog turds with nuts and bolts hidden inside them, thus providing the White House antiterrorism security with a rewarding and time consuming job the next morning when they make their regular sweeps with the metal detectors.
