what is your habitual compulsion??


My compulsion is that whenever I get up from doing something at night, (watching TV, coming out of bathroom, studying) I HAVE to check my front door to my apartment to make sure it's lock for the night -- almost everytime I go from doing one thing to something else.



Maybe it's just that I'm afraid SlowwHand is planning to send a posse up here, have them drag me out, and then having the posse ship me to Cuba.


So, what is your compulsion -- if you have one.

whenever eating in any kind of public restaurant, when i'm using napkins to clean my hands or my mouth or whatever. . . i can only use each napkin once and then i've got to use a new one next time. it doesn't matter if the napkin didn't get dirty at all, once it's used, it's used, and i can't use it again. i usually end up going through 20-30 napkins.

Constant washing/sanitizing of hands. All those training videos/seminars dealing with proper sanitation at work (mainly the Jack-in-the-Box horror flicks) did a number on me. Now I get chlorine burns on my hands from time to time.
OTOH, I rarely get sick.

I like to scratch along my fingers, sideways. I'll start off with a nail on either side of my cuticle, and then gently scrape down towards the knuckle.

It's hard to explain the action, and even harder to describe the feelings it gives me, but it's an almost erotic feeling. Nobody else I've talked to has experienced this phenomenon.

I sit quietly in busy places and graph movement patterns of people in my mind, making verbal notes into my laptop. Then I interveiw people that I see and make connections between their actions in a public place and their actions and reactions in a more intimate environs. I overanalyse every situation, and manage to twist everything I see to support my political veiws, which are completely Anarchic. I demand action from people without cause that ailienates everyone I meet, and then I forget about them entirely untill months or years later.

I tap my fingers/feet, bulge my cheeks (um... not sure how to describe it), "tap" my teeth together (it's not really grinding), and/or tap my fingernails (mainly the thumb) against my teeth to the rythm of the music when I'm listening to music, or simply when I have some song in my head, or just when I generally feel like it consciously or not...

I guess I should become a drummer or something.

I smoke... Whenever I smoke, I spit... I think its because I use to chew and the taste of tobaco makes me.

Also, I have a bad habit of stealing SuperSneaks intellectual property..

I have a friend who's a klepto, really rather funny. The guy will steal anything that's not nailed down; he once stole a "slippery when wet" sign from Taco Bell on impulse.

I run my fingers in repetetive patterns over my other fingers. Like tracing a joined up X on my thumb nail. I make all sorts of patterns. Nothing too complex or pictoral, I do it when I concentrate. My girlfriend loves it when I trace patterns on her.
