What to do With Our Army Next Turn Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

We basically have two options since Catchopolis appears to be too tough of a nut to crack at the moment:

1) Retreat northwards towards Inevitable and wait for reinforcements.

2) Move west to build a new fort city between BoP and Catchopolis.

We cannot do both since the mountains prevent us from moving Catapults from Inevitable directly to the new fort site. Thus, we can either move west now for the new fort or move north now and give up the fort idea (at least for the next 6+ turns).

The result of this poll will help guide the decisions to be made next turn (especially if one option is greatly favored over the other).

Clearly if something outrageous occurs (our turn arrives with all 7 of our NMs missing) then the results of this poll will not be accurate for the situation at hand. For voting assume the situation remains relatively the same as to what it is now (our main stack at no risk of taking very heavy damage).

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I would like to move west to build the fort as soon as we can, then rush Walls while we wait in the city with our main army. From that site we can constantly threaten both BoP and Catchopolis as well as disrupting travel between them as we wait for new MIs from the north for the final assault on Catchopolis.

Should we retreat north we lose the opportunity to divide their forces and possibly strike at BoP if it's weak enough. When the final assault on Catchopolis occurs we may be very thankful there are 2 or 3 or 4 Pikes in BoP instead of where we really want to attack.

I think building a new fort city is the way to go. It threatens multiple objectives simultaneously which is one of the axioms of great military strategy, it also gives us a place to heal for when the real assault on their capital begins (with reinforcements).

Wild Suggestion...

Can we afford to fortify, and use cats to bomb tile 4 of Catchapolis.
That will make their troop movements a little more difficult.

No! to this Fort city and NO to reteate.

We are here now, we just shell and continue to shell the $h!t out of them, if it take s 2 or 3 turns of shelling, then we can do it. Trip's main fear is that barracks will revitalize any "dings" that the cats will make. BUT if we hit the Barracks, and seige them for several turns, then we WILL destroy that barracks AND take the city OR force them to abandon it.

Until Most of their Army Is Dead or hopelessly wounded, they will keep from abandoning Catch. And being without a barracks will definately be a deciding factor.

Go north! The longer that fort city is there the more chance it has of flipping! If the fort city flipped THE WAR WOULD BE OVER. It would be a devastating loss, and while we try to build units again GCA would definately retake all lost territory.

I'm saying this is a chance I would rather not take

I can't be sure without checking one of the culture flipping threads, but a newly built native city at 1 pop, stuffed to the gills with troops, ain't gonna flip.

I voted for the fort city... great idea. The question becomes, how many Horseman vs. MedInfs should be built?

Actually, would someone have the time to find out how many units we need in both forts to completely prevent flipping? I know there is a formula, but do not have time to look for it (still owing you the report for the last turn).

Too much business these days...

You just don't get it E_T.

We need to do at least 3 damage per unit per turn for the damage to remain because simply being fortified heals 2 HP per turn.

I got an average of 1 hit TOTAL per 18 shots. A siege of Catchopolis with Catapults is not possible.

In MP if a city flips then all of the units in it go back to the capital. That being the case, the war wouldn't be over.

This poll is no longer valid as Catchopolis has been razed.
