Not sure if this is a problem or the way it's supposed to be. Anyway, I got a little boost going and got Atomic Theory and Electronics ahead of the AI - researched them but that Wonder that gives 2 techs gave me Replaceable and something else... can't remember.
Anyway the AI had gone up the Commie tree, as usual, and once I built Hoovers, I offered to trade A.Theory 'cause I didn't want to have anything for them to demand. Byzantine (leading civ) offered Fascism, Commie, Ironclads (which was all their tech) PLUS 100gpt for A. Theory. Then 2nd place civ offered everything they had (which was 25gpt and 140g and coal) for the same tech.
This seems a bit excessive? With the gpt bug I now have like 9000g, a ton coming in, research jacked as high as I can...
Did I miss something about the importance of A. theory? Any wonders around it I've already built...
And, as an aside, the game really isn't very fun when you have all this money...

Oh... I guess I've never researched it ahead of the AI before. Normally I don't have the kind of cash I have this game so I can't afford to research. So, all in all, I guess it relates back to the gpt bug - no excess money, I don't get AT first, I don't see AI's panties...

In PTW the AI would always pay through the nose for Scientific Method (even after you had built ToE) and Atomic Theory.
The increased upgrade cost is really affecting my play style. Leonardo's is even more important than before just to make mass upgrades affordable. The increased cost of upgrades also makes civs with a good defensive UU (hoplite, num merc, swiss merc) that skips a step in that upgrade chain a more attractive choice.

I don't think it's a problem.
AT is really beaker-costly, while all commi-tree and ironclads are rather cheap to research. Since AI seems to give AT very low priority, the player will get AT almost always first. That is, you can sell AT at its full price, while all AI have communism tree, they devalue seriously (even AI values those tech much more than their real cost).
