Indy has the offense but the "D" isn't quite enough.
Miami has the "D" but the offense is still a bit iffy.
KC definitely has the offense, but the "D" isn't strong enough.
Patriots are good all around, but not quite good enough.
Titans have a great offense and a good run "D" and I think that puts them on top.
Carolina's offense is too weak.
Philly's good all around, but not good enough to match up with the other tope teams.
Dallas, nah, offense can't cut it and Miami showed their weaknesses on "D".
Rams, depends on where they play. At home they can match just about anyone. Away, they barely beat out the likes of Chicago.
Broncos, good on both sides of the ball, but not top calibur.
Minnesota? Not with that defense...
Tennessee will win it all if McNair stays healthy. Although his back-up, Volek(?) came in and did quite well considering. Titans main weakness is the running game, George keeps getting shut down by good run defenses. But who cares when you have McNair throwing the ball. Titans pass defense would seem a bit defective if we look only at stats, but that's because the Titans are usually so far out front by the 3rd quarter other teams end up throwing more.

Miami offense is iffy? Only with Griese in. They are a different team with Fiedler in
Hell it was you guys who were telling me Dallas had the #1 defense- though I dispute that. I care more about points than yards allowed. But Miami crushed Dallas.

bah...dallas played well considering they had FOUR count them 4 turn overs!!!
The win percentage when you are -3 or more is only like 6%, it doesn't matter who you are playing

oh please... the PACK lost to the pathetic lions on Thanksgiving... they are reeling. Brett Favre is playing with a hurt thumb, and in addition he's reaching that ineffective stage of his career. I think he's done after this year. The Bears have been playing great defense. They will contain Ahman Green just like they did Clinton Portis. He might get 100 yds or more, but he won't be effective enough to beat the Bears.
The Bears won't make the playoffs, don't get me wrong here. But they will probably beat the fudgePackers and the Vikes, then Washington, but then losing to the Chiefs. Minnesota will win the division and lose in the first round of the playoffs. The Central just sucks.
If the Pack win, it will be because the Bears offense gets shut down. It will be a close game. But don't fool yourself Defiant... the Pack suck... and will only get worse. The Bears are the second youngest team in the NFL. Their defense will only get better in the coming years. And once Jauron is gone and we get a coach who isn't a moron and an offensive coordinator who knows how to call plays and use personel (PITCHING TO BRIAN URLACHER ON A FAKE FIELD GOAL??? COME ON JOHN SHOOP YOU TWIT!!), they will be a force. And since everyone else in the Central is going to suck in the coming years, I think the Bears are going to be the top team. Favre will be gone and so will any hope of Pack success. The Vikes have no D, same as the Lions. Harrington might come of age and be a good QB, so the Lions might be good. But not until they get some D.

quote: With this parity crap that the NFL has created, I'd say winning the Super Bowl is about 50% talent and 50% luck. |
And 100% excitment .

As for the Bears, they suck. They need a QB. Then they need a RB. Then a WR would be nice . They have idiots in the front office (yes, just let Ted Washington go) and it won't get better. If Jauron is gone, some other bad coach will replace him (maybe Fassel).
Watching this year, Brian Urlacher is overrated. He may have been better when he had the huge DTs in front of him, but he has been 'handled' in many games this year. He's very good, but he definetly isn't in the same league as Ray Lewis.
The Vikes will rule the NFC Central in the upcoming years. A few drafts and the D will be fine. They have a good young QB, nice running attack, and a Randy Moss who has become less selfish. The Pack are going to be hurting when Farve leaves, but they can pick someone up in free agency and just hand the ball off to Green 25-30 times a game. The Lions just plain suck, and Harrington is another player who was overrated, though it may just be the pathetic line... who knows?

Imran: well they do need Rex Grossman to develop into a good QB... and Anthony Thomas isn't Barry Sanders, but if they can keep their offensive line healthy and use their players effectively, they can rely on their defense to shut teams down.
Brian Urlacher isn't the god people make him out to be, but he is a very good MLB... skill wise? I put him right behind Ray Lewis at number 2. But he is young and can't dominate the game by himself. It's a team game. And yes, he had success with the two monster DT's or the "700 pounds of ass" as they were referred to hear in Chicago. But Washington was sucking. Plus, the Bears have younger players ready to step up. Washington is having success in NE, and I wish him well, but his career and effectiveness with the Bears was finished. He had to go to make room for the younger guys like Mike Haynes... also, they've been using B.Rob at DT to give Brown and Boone more time at DE to develop.
Also, with Urlacher... two things happened this year.
1. Blache changed the defensive scheme... the D struggled early on, but look at the last 5 or 6 games. They've allowed like 11 points per game.
2. Teams were game planning and focusing on Urlacher. Because the secondary was bad early on, and because there was disorder on the D-line, teams were shutting Urlacher down, making sure he was blocked because they knew he was the only one who could stop them. But since the rest of the D has improved, Urlacher has been playing better.
That's just how football works. If you have one great player and the rest of the unit sucks, you can focus on him and shut him down.
Urlacher is no **** Butkus, but he's young, and getting better. And with a healthy unit, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with. Sure, he's not the best MLB in the league. But he's an elite player.
As for the Vikes? A couple of drafts? Please... their D will suck, and as good as Randy Moss is, without a decent running game, their offense will be easy to shut down. Even if Moss gets 10 catches and 200 yards a game, he'll be the only star. Teams will let Moss put up the numbers, but Moss can't win games by himself. Culpepper is good, but he's not great. Take away Moss and Culpepper won't do jack

Hmm.. that was a similar charge labled against the YOUNGER Farve .

Ah those Florida QBs. I don't think Grossman will be that good.
quote: because there was disorder on the D-line, teams were shutting Urlacher down |
Urlacher was also overpersuing and teams used it against him greatly. Maybe it was because he felt he had to do everything himself, but in the games I've seen him in, I've been wondering where that hyped Urlacher went.

Without a decent running game? You been watching the Vikes at all? Williams put up great numbers, especially as a career backup in the spotlight, and Bennett is a wonderful RB. They have no problems on offense, except for the picks.
