I can't help thinking about how this Eurocom vs. gun-totin' Alabama Man trolling competition must have been going on for about four years now. I realize it's generally not to be taken that seriously, but don't you guys ever get tired of it?

I think that with regards to the Iraq thing, I know this was a London speech, but I think Bush (as well as a couple posters on Apolyton) should acknowledge Europe was genuinely divided on the issue instead of treating it like the socio-political anti-U.S-entity it will hopefully never become. Or to rephrase that, in one form or another, where's my thank you card?

That decision was taken not because mr. Fogh is a humanitarian or interested in 'stability'. The government is up to its neck in this because 1) there was no legal grounds for war, in fact it maninpulated all relevant legal documents. 2) it was done to placate the Maersk company, amongs others, who did not want to be excluded from profit making on the war. 3) It was possible because Denmark have not joined the Euro. Fogh will go down on this.

A little history. During the napoleonic wars Denmark supported France. During Tzarist Russia Denmark supported Russia. Under Hitler Denmark supported Germany. One should think that the Danish foreign ministry had learned a little from this. But no they insist on betting on the losing horse time and time again.

The Danish government is far from being "up to its neck in this", as they have the solid support of the people wrt. Iraq.

The 'people' is irrelevant when it comes to this particular matter. It is opinions of legal experts and ultimately parlamentarians that matter. Don't tell me that the Danish governent was not pro-Hitler during the war. In fact the 'Liberal' party was the one which was most pro-nazi, since the farmer constituency made a bundle on selling foodstuffs to Germany and in fact saw their real wages rising.

Under Napoleon Denmark followed an anti-British line through and through, even allowing for Spanish mercenaries in Napoleons Army to be stationed in Denmark. The reason was of course that Denmark was a trading nation and was jealous of British dominance of the seas.

Huge contracts on Russian infrastructure such as telegraph lines was made with the Russian Tzar.

So I fail to see how a history of Denmark having supported various repressive regimes for fithy lucre is not relevant to the current situation.

Most of us are tired of this one trick pony and most of us do recognize that Europe was divided upon the Iraq issue. Unfortunately, a minority of people persist on posting the same boring articles with the same boring premises again and again.
