As Aggie is Deputy MoW, until a new MoW is formally appointed by the consuls, he will have to take over the job.

Why are we nominating people?

Do the Consuls not know who'd make a good MoW? This is something that they should discuss and carry out in private, with persons they feel will be able to fill the job.

I have no objection to the team in general suggesting people they feel would be good for the job. Afterall, notyoueither did hold a quasi-ELECTION to provide recommendations to the original Consuls on hiring our first three ministers... that's how Togas, Dominae, and Trip were hired in the first place.

The Consuls certainly have it within their power to select whatever ministers they feel are best able to fulfill the job, but there's nothing to prevent the Senate from offering suggestions. As I've said, there's even precedent for it.

MZ: Discussing who could be the next MoW and what qualities they have is needed. Just posting: "I nominate soandso" does very little to help the Consuls decide. Also MZ, I thought you were done with your snide little remarks...I guess it will continue as long as you feel the need to belittle my comments and turn my words into something that they are not. Oh well.

What do you do, Hot_E? I managed to be Consul (of sorts ) for quite a few months in NZ, and I am at work at the labs every sodding day.

In a universe where I exist, no-one should ever feel the need to let their timezone dictate what they can and can't do.

I cant chat at work. (Although I do troll the forums)
At home, I have to work around the wife & kids.
She doesn't quite understand the need for me to attend chats.

The last one I joined was with GS very early in the game, which ended at 3.00am.
I almost joined a 5.00am one with ND..but I hit "alarm off" instead of snooze.

It's just very very awkward to be able to commit to so much consistent PC time.


Besides, I have seen first hand Aggies skill within the GoW forum. He's the man for the job.

Uhmm, guys? Sorry, I am not trying to be a wet blanket, but why don't we allow people to state their desire to serve before we fill the thread with names that may intimidate others from doing so.

If you have asked those mentioned if they want to serve, fine. However if you have not, it certainly won't encourage others to step forward. Will it?

I bought a new HD and installed XP on my PC 4 months ago....And I didnt bother even to reinstall MirC.

I appreciate the nomination, but I must decline, for two reasons:

First, and most importantly, I don't have the time. I spend too much time on the demogames as it is, and furthermore most of that time is um, not from home (where I can use mIRC, open saves, etc). At home, I have a crappy dialup connection and since I'm a working stiff, can only be online in a useful way for a few hours each weeknight. Apolyton needs a MoW that is active and provides detailed orders for each turn... something I just don't seem myself being able to do.

Second, to be honest, I'm just not a very good general. When playing against humans, you cannot afford to make many mistakes. The Bobian war in the ptwdg taught me that. GS made several, and ND/GoW made us pay for them. Some of those mistakes were my fault, either because I wasn't paying enough attention (Toledo2, cursed be its name), or because I simply miscalculated (getting a slowmover stack annihilated southeast of the Alamo, by foolishly marching it out onto the flats in range of both Ansars and Riders).

Apolyton is not now at war, and doesn't seem to be on the verge of one either, so these concerns are clearly secondary to the time issue.

Hmmm, maybe a MoW by committee, i.e. people who are military minded but not able to attend chats. At this time, we need people for the purposes of planning and evaluation than we do need them to be in chat.

Planning Military Manouvers against an enemy position. Seeing to the defence of the Nation. Sending out Units to clean up Barb camps. Planning what is needed to do a particular Military manouver against a possible target. Making sure that our Units are in positions to move to a possible trouble spot.
