	Radiation protection Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

For some obscure reason, I had to attend a training in radiation protection. There we listened to a lengthy talk (-- which had absolutely nothing to do with the reason we had to take this training, nor was there anyone who would be seriously affected by this --) about the doses from extraterrestrial radiation for pilots or astronauts. According to recent European laws, flying personnel has to be equipped with a complete dosimetric outfit and to be supervised.

As christmas approaches, this raised another important question: Do Angels have to wear radiation protection as well?

In all my time in the navy I received less than 1 REM of gamma radiation exposure. Around 700 mrem I believe. But TLD's only measure gamma radiation. I have no idea how much neutron, alpha, or beta radiation I recieved.

When it comes to protection against radiation the Holy Banana is about as good as anything else, if not better.

Unless you incorporated an alpha emitter, there is no problem with alpha radiation, because it is shielded by the dead parts of your skin. The main parts of radiation a pilot gets normally is gamma radiation. In Europe, you should have a suitable dosimeter if neutron radiation is likely to exceed 10% of your total dose.

alpaha readitaoint ois noe probelm because they're charged partic;es and are absorbed bvery quiclkly by air or anyrhing rlse. beta is aokay (sindce they're lightedr same enrgy hae s higher veloxtiy so bigget gamma so bigger persistence_) neiurtral radiation like nmerutron or gamma radiation is dangerous.

a great deal more radiation falls on Heaven then it does on earth apparently, so i'd assume that the angels have some kind of protective gear.

The temperature of Heaven can be rather accurately computed. Our
authority is Isaiah 30:26, "Moreover, the light of the Moon shall be as
the light of the Sun and the light of the Sun shall be sevenfold, as
the light of seven days." Thus Heaven receives from the Moon as much
radiation as we do from the Sun, and in addition 7*7 (49) times as much
as the Earth does from the Sun, or 50 times in all. The light we
receive from the Moon is one 1/10,000 of the light we receive from the
Sun, so we can ignore that ... The radiation falling on Heaven will
heat it to the point where the heat lost by radiation is just equal to
the heat received by radiation, i.e., Heaven loses 50 times as much
heat as the Earth by radiation. Using the Stefan-Boltzmann law for
radiation, (_ H/_ E)^4 = 50, where _ E is the absolute temperature of the
earth (-300K), gives _ H as 798K (525C). The exact temperature of Hell
cannot be computed ... [However] Revelations 21:8 says "But the
fearful, and unbelieving ... shall have their part in the lake which
burneth with fire and brimstone." A lake of molten brimstone means
that its temperature must be at or below the boiling point, 444.6C. We
have, then, that Heaven, at 525C is hotter than Hell at 445C.

red wine is supposed to help with radiation.

because heaven seems to like wine, we can presume that the angels drink enough of it that they don't show any effects.

one can also presume that sometimes because they appear out of no where and pull pranks, like making mary's face appear in a muffin, they might get a bit tipsy.

yep, alpha radiation is absorbed by the dead skin. Even beta radiation can't really penetrate skin.

Our main concern was radioactive gases that are inhaled and then decay while in the lungs- that decay will yield alpha radiation often times. which could damge the cells in the lungs.

As for Beta, it really isn't that bad. Our main concern was exposure to the eye. Of course I wore glasses . Not that glasses cover all angles that radiation could enter the eyes.

As for neutron radiaton- our expected doses were low as well, therefore we were not required to be measured for that. The main source of neutron radiation comes from the nuclear reactor. Unless you are entering the reactor compartment during operation- significant neutron radiation is unlikely.
