I think he realized exactly what we were trying to do: find out what the CFC public's opinion is through the winning candidates' platforms. Telling us who won on what campaigns could have been as good as telling us "you have approximately x% chance of being attacked by Riders."

So I think Octavian made a smart move; he refused to comment on and downplayed the policy part of the platforms, while portraying it as a merely personal campaign over Oct's heavy involvement, not suggesting Oct's defeats involved poly or other outside influences.

If that's really a good account of what happened, so much the better for Oct; then he's done his best to re-assure us while sticking to the truth.

Actually, OctX didn't say a single thing about any personal factors to the election. The only thing he even bothered to mention was the policy side. I think OctX is too embarassed to say that personal things about him had anything to do with it. I think the result was caused by BOTH personal AND policy reasons.

Treating them like they're still a first-rate power (despite the fact that we know better ) may be the right way to go on this.

Couldn't agree more.

MZ has done well in this regard in the past, and now with both ZargonX and WhiteBandit jointly "on call" to talk to CFC, we shouldn't worry too much about our stance. WB and ZX are two of the nicest guys on our team and have always put a respectful face forward to CFC in negotiations.

We mostly need to make sure that everyone else who's seen in public and who might get approached by a CFC individual also endevors to take the right, respectful approach to CFC team members. No matter how we feel, we should act in a friendly mannor and also take their requests seriously.

And, god forbid, we find ourselves working exclusively with Goonie we're going to have to find some sort of internal fortitude and at least pretend to consider his requests before we politely but firmly explain to him that we disagree with his position.

Furthermore, the following will be our position regarding BoP and south GCA:

Our FP is half-way complete and we will be Palace Jumping to old GCA territory. BoP is very near to where our new capital is going to be and it will be a very low-corruption city, one of the best city sites we have in the south. The old GCA territories are better land than ANYTHING we have in the north, and we have always planned on relocating there.

Having two chokepoints as our borders also makes infinitely more sense than having a larger border, and it'll make each of our nations more secure and able to cooperate better due to each of us being able to confidently control our borders.

I certinatley agree that owning two choke points is much better than a longer border, but I still think that CFC will attack us as soon as they have sufficent Riders.

As for researching Chivary, the best time for us to get it is one turn after CFC does so that we don't inadvertly speed up CFC's reserach of it by lowering it's cost and we still have some Knights.

CFC probably won't ally with GFC, they'de normally be much more likely to offically ally with us in game against GFC to pick off some cities. But with GFC abandoning cities they might lose CFC is staying out until they have settlers ready to go with them to refound the cities. In the mean time, GFC abdodned BoP and so GFC may be shifting builds of settlers into horsemen in cities with baracks and barracks in cities without them.
