	Was the Paris Hilton tape a publicity stunt? Increase the size of your Attachments

Normally I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Nor am I a cynic. But is it just me, or did the sex tape giving Paris Hilton huge publicity just before her Fox show aired seem a little too perfect?

I had never heard of her before the scandal. I never had heard of the other girl on the Fox reality show either. I'm willing to bet that the same is true for the majority of Americans. I don't think the show would have drawn 11 million viewers on its premiere if the scandal hadn't happened. I don't think it would have drawn 11 thousand. How convenient that the tape found its way onto the internet just a few weeks before the premiere of her show.

She had a reputation, not a large public one, but alot of rich people know her apparently. It has to be embarassing to her in front of friends, family, and contacts to have a video of her having sex out in public.

yes- esp. considering the tape is a few years old and it comes out now? Hell, I didn't even know who she was before this tape. So I guess it worked- though I still didn't watch her crappy show.

She has been doing outrageous things for years. I didn't hear about them until after this tape though- only because I don't follow celebrities. I think I heard something about her dancing on top of a table at her 16th birthday party while not wearing underwear. There are many other stories like these as well.

I join the other Apolytonites here - I saw a post referencing her, and I thought they were talking about a porno flick filmed in France . We don't have television, cable, or satellite reception at home., by choice.

I only realized what it was about when I caught up with my newpaper reading. I detest popular non-culture.

If she was going to stage the release of a sex-tape, why wouldn't she choose a better one to release? The Hilton sex-tape is badly shot and boring. It doesn't even hold a candle to Tommy and Pamela Lee's masterpiece.

And about her show, Simle Life, the both girls are overwhelmingly stupid and airheads. But, I think Paris is sincere, stupid but sincere. Too thin though.. but I'd still hit it multiple times.

No, its exactly what I'd expect from a video purposefully released to garner attention for one Paris Hilton. She didn't want to show any good quality explicit pictures of herself that can be blown up and used all over the place, but she wanted the video to be scandalous enough to cause attention, and crappy-looking enough to be a home video. I'd be more inclined to believe it was an accident if it was a good quality sex tape.

Oh yes, and until last week I thought 'Paris Hilton' was a hotel.

She was on Saturday Night Live last night during the news with Jimmy Fallon. Lots of jokes about "access to the PARIS Hilton" "what's it like on the inside" etc. etc. Paris just sat there like a lump on a log. Real star quality this one...

Without the Fox TV show, nobody would have cared. While it may have looked like a set up, it's just like most other things like this. Since her name was in the press, tapes like that are recogonized as having value. There are million of videos out there of actresses and people... until you become famous or are in the public eye, they aren't worth much. But the minute you do become famous, they all come out of the woodwork

I vaguely knew her name before hand due to inevitable pop culture diffusion. Shes an IT girl, famous for being famous. Due to her obvious lack of talent she needs things like this to retain her status. I smelt a fix too, it has certainly got her all the publicity she could ever want.
