A rabbit once got it at 85mph under my car.

Unfortunately people stray cats are a nuisance...they breed like wildfire and can be a major nuisance. I'm surprised they haven't been picking them off in the interests of 'population control'.

...but back to that rabbit. It saw me coming and I saw it, and I adjusted my trajectory accordingly to avoid it. So what did it do at the last minute? Moved right into alignment with my left wheels. Thud thud. I just consider it to be natural selection at work

No, you don't, ****wit. Just because I'm in the army doesn't mean i'm a completely insensitive sadistic bastard, who likes watching a cat get crushed to death under the tires of a passing truck right before my eyes, and then writhe around helplessly on the street in a panic. Would YOU like watching that?

Now, I've never been in a combat situation, but i don't THINK that there are too many similarities between those two situations. If a person is trying to kill me on the battlefield, you can bet i'm going to protect myself and my comrades. You can bet i'll make sure he goes down before I do. But I'm not going to be giggling like a 14 year old school boy who crushed a spider, giddy with the power over life and death he holds. I'm going to do the job I have to do, but killing isn't fun, nor pretty, whether you're a soldier or not.

So, Mr. Ecthelion, you can go **** yourself, *******.

Put an end to popups!

I once saw a dog die. It was s******g a student's female dog. Evidently the guy thought that he wasn't good enough for her because he went up to the male dog and struck it on it's back with a big chunk of wood. Evidently the dog's back was broken, beacuse it's hind limbs went flaccid immediately. It took a little while longer for it's member to disengagfe from the b***h so the guy struck it on the head repeatedly until the two animals came apart. The male dog made sluggish motions as if to stand up a couple of times then lay back and became still.

The amazing thing is that everyone of the students who stood around laughing at this spectacle, including the guy who killed the dog, are now practicing physicians.

And the US army as well, which is known to make worldwide visits now and again...

I didn't cry seeing the cat. It was rather disturbing though. Sure, we expect soldiers to be tough, but we also expect them to be human.

Until you become a soldier yourself, and can begin to understand what it's like, don't presume to judge me, or the quality of soldier I am.

Go, please, kindly **** off now.

not nice seeing a thing like that...

but i dont see what the big problem with death is...it will come eventually...so it can come a little bit sooner if you are at war...to bad...i am more afraid of pain due to some big metal thing in my leg or something then dying...we are all expendable

Frankly, we're all very grateful to hear about a young German not wanting to join an army. We also won't bring up the past exploits of your country's army.

most humans are not emotionless enough to be in the military. To say every person in the U.S army is emotionless killer is just wrong. Only a very small percentage are inhuman killers.

exactly my point. I didn't make my point clear.

It is unreasonable to expect everyone in the military to be eomtionless. Because most humans are not emotionless.

The only humans I can think of who are emotionless are Hilary Clinton and Adolf Hilter.

I think it rather unreanable to expect ANYone to be emotionless. Not denying that some people are, or are close to it, but those are rare individuals indeed. . .

I gather that's what you were trying to say, Dissident?

Toughness is a matter of keeping your **** wired tight and doing the job like a professional. Doesn't mean you don't feel the impact, or that you don't react, or that you lose all sensitivity to suffering, particularly when you know it's a hazard of your profession that whatever you see, the same or worse may happen to you or your comrades.

Our family dog got run over yesterday. He was one of those completely witless dogs who when let loose would run around the neighborhood, and I mean literally running at full gallop, utterly oblivious to the world. He managed to get out of the house, took off for a run, and within a few minutes was run over right in front of our yard.

Watching a cat die is nothing compared to watching a person die, especially if you had a hand in either one. May want to give that some thought before joining the military.

Sorry about the dog. My dog when I first got her used to run around crazy. She used to cross a busy arterial street and amazingly never got hit. But I managed to traine her well. I can leave the fence open and she won't run out.
