	Egg nog Got spare money?

I love this stuff, I wish they had it all year long. Of course that is probably a good thing as it is loaded with fat and colories.

Some people detest this drink very much- even with alcohol in it. But I love it, can't get enough of it. Though I can't drink too much or I would get sick- because it is very rich.

And I drink mine without alcohol in it usually. Why ruin the good taste of egg nog with nasty alcohol?

I've never been a rum drinker. Not sure why. Even when I was in the carribean where rum seemed to be real cheap. I just drank beer .

I'm pretty sure I drank that. I absolutely hated that I drank some at a christmas get together once. That's the drink you are supposed to sip right? Well sip was all I could do, it was too disgusting for me to take big drinks out of it.

I love eggnog. However, I am as picky about that as my occasional beer (one should not mix statins and liquor, both stress your liver ). I just discovered a good, low fat eggnog (that's not oxymoronic ). Horizon Orgainc lowfat Egg Nog, on sale at Kroger this week for $3.19 for 32 oz (if you are in the right portion of the USA). I hope mentioning this like that doesn't break any rules.

Store-bought eggnog is the problem. If you like that, you would LOVE freshly-made nog. A totally different experience. Commercial nog is gross by comparison.

Oh, and the secret is to use cognac as the alcohol. Soooo smoooooooth! Many a naysayer has been converted...

I'll email SWMBO for the recipe. When it arrives, I'll post ...

Mrs. Rabbit's Holiday Eggnog

Ingredients:

6 eggs*
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cognac
4 cups (1 qt) light cream (may substitute half-and-half)
Nutmeg

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, beat eggs until light and foamy.
B. Add sugar and salt, beating until thick and lemon-colored.
III. Stir in cognac and cream.
d. Chill at least 3 hours.

Just before serving, sprinkle each serving with nutmeg.

* Use freshest possible eggs as they don't get cooked. Still, I've not made anyone sick yet...

12 servings (1/2 cup each)

Quick and easy! Best if made and served same day. Just remember to leave time to chill.
We usually use Hennessy, but any true cognac will do. Much smoother than brandy, and not so sweet and cloying as rum. The alcohol level is actually quite low. You'll notice that the color is a soft pastel yellow, not the orange-y yellow of commercial nog.

Bring this along and you'll be the hit of your holiday party.

The real question of the universe. Not which Ms. Universe you want under your tree, but whether to have alchohol in your eggnog. I vote with CG, and since corporate agriculture made raw eggs dangerous , I'll have to stick with store bought.
