With all due respect to the good times and bad I've had with this team, lately the bad have been getting higher and higher and the good fewer and far between.

I think Apolyton is without question the best team in the Demogame biz, and I truly do not yet have an answer for how I am to lead a team against them in the CISDG.

Having said that, however - I am withdrawing from this team at this time. I made a promise to myself back when Everquest nearly ruined my life that if I ever started playing something - or participating in something - out of a feeling of commitment and nothing else, and it stayed that way for a period of time, that I would walk away from it.

Well guys, here's my walking papers.

There are a lot of very intelligent civ players on this team; unfortunately, one problem with so many very good Civ players that have slightly different perspectives is that they don't always see eye to eye, and everyone is absolutely certain they're right.

Here's a tip: participation in this game might be higher if the infighting was less than the outfighting. It's a game, guys. And while some of the members don't mind reading week after week of Bigfree vs whoever, or FAM vs whoever, or even Trip vs NYE, some of us do.

Was it really worth trading ten posts back and forth, full of underlying seething anger because someone made a suggestion to CFC? Is it THAT important? Has CFC never backed out on anything they've suggested? Sure, we didn't like it much, but we got over it.

I realize I kicked up a pretty good fuss myself not too long ago, but for me that's one more symptom of the problem: when it stops being fun and laughable and so serious that I want to kick up a good fuss, something's wrong.

Sorry guys, but this is becoming less game and more job, just reading through it.

Good luck. Smash GCA's splinters to dust, and ram one straight up GWT's arse for me.... but I don't think I want to be here to see you smash each other to dust and ram it up each other's arse to do it.

Adieu.

Great, at this rate it will be only Trip left in a few weeks...

I'm sorry that this is happening, but no team is perfect and I still believe that beneath all our differences, it is the common goal to win that ultimately binds us and will get us through. There is no such thing as a perfectly harmonious team, and I'm sure you'll eventually realize that too in the C3C ISDG.

Well, crap. F-P, I would ask that you please not leave. I, for one, have been quite glad that you've been around, since you have offered rather sound advice on a number of issues in the past few months, especially on military affairs.

It is my belief that your place on another team for ANOTHER GAME need not have any bearing on this game and Apolyton could still use your expertise and input for the long stretch of game left ahead of us. Please reconsider your decision to leave.

Thanks.

To some extent, i mind too. But i just skipped those posts and read what i want to read.

To be a successful team, we need diverse opinion. It's sad to see people leaving. Please do come back regularly, at least to read the turns.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Since his ISDG icon is still present, he has not left left. He has to remove himself from the Civ-Group to actually leave. If he's just taking an extended 'leave'; why the notice? Gimme a break... :-/

Well, F-P, I hope you reconsider. If my posts are what you're going on, then you are mistaken about anger. I do not mince words, usually, and sometimes what I post can come off as sharper than what I intend.

Be that as it may, a situation that is far from optimal has come up. If Apolyton is any good at all, it is because we do not usually make such mistakes (mistake IMO). When we do make one, then yes, there will be some disturbance over it.

There will be conflicts in situations such as these. You may be misled by the atmosphere in GS. That is an exceedingly collegial environment. It is an exception to the rule as far as I have seen from other demo games.

So, if you wish to leave, we cannot keep you. However, I would urge you to reconsider. This team has gotten along very well for the most part. The odd scuffle should not define the experience for you, or anyone else. If it does, that is a shame.

You have my best wishes, whatever you decide to do.

Are you trying to make him leave? If I was leaving I would stick around a day or two to 1. Read the comments in this thread, and 2. Make sure if that is what I really wanted to do.

Anyways,

FP. I understand respect your decision to leave, although it is somewhat sad. In fact, I was contemplating leaving a while ago, but thats another story. Thank you for your valuable input in this game, and we will see you in the next.

Suffering from ads?

Good point Panzer, I guess I would go a tad further and encourage F-P to at least stay in the group, take a break for a while, and then see if he may want to come back sometime in the future.

So please consider that F-P!

And where else do you and I have a secure place to complain about our favorite IDG guy?

Goodbye. Thank you for your commitment and added enjoyment to the game.

I understand your feelings about 'feeling obligated' to play very well. In the past, I have quit games when they have threatened to overrun my life (and I no longer enjoy them).

I respect your decision and wish you good luck and times in the future!

Got spare money?

Panzer: What my post was supposed to convey is that why post that you are quiting the team but then not leave? Only to get people to beg you to stay? It just seems a little cheesy to me. Does F-P have good ideas and know how to play this game? He sure the hell does! I know he's a great player and can make very good contributions to this team, but I'm not about to beg him to stay if he wants out; especially if he is not happy and not having fun and has a problem with any of my (or anyone else's) arguing because I will argue my points. Hell, I expect anyone else to argue their points as well.
