I don't know what you mean, either. The map editor is pretty straight forward, and I cannot remember any 'execute' command in it.

Suffering from ads?

*** 2. Installing/Compiling ***

1 bunzip2 the patch.

2 in your freeciv source directory execute
patch -p1 < <...>/civworld-1.14.1.diff-against-freeciv
where <...> is the path to the patch.

3 in the freeciv source directory execute
./autogen.sh && make
you can give your normal options to ./autogen.sh (generally you won't need
any), but you must compile the gtk 1.2 client (which it does by default)
_and_ you must also compile the server (or at least its object files).

i don't understand this

Compiling civworld in Windows is definitely not something you want to do if you are a newbie.

Sorry. It is just hard. I don't think anyone has ever done it before.

Full PM-box? Change here!

You donīt necessarily need Civworld to create or edit maps. Maps are stored as savegames and can be edited with any decent texteditor. Itīs a bit tricky but you could create your own map and settings this way.

For example here is the map youīll find inside the british isle save in the scenarios folder.

code:
t000=" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" t001=" " t002=" g " t003=" g " t004=" pg " t005=" g " t006=" " t007=" " t008=" " t009=" g " t010=" hgp " t011=" pp " t012=" g " t013=" g g " t014=" " t015=" " t016=" g " t017=" g " t018=" ggg gfggpgfggg " t019=" ghgg ggffhffghfg " t020=" hg m ggmfhmhfgg " t021=" gg gf hfmmffhg " t022=" gh gsm pfmfgmhhfpp " t023=" gg gf hffmhmhfg " t024=" h g m m f fhmhhfggg " t025=" g g fffmfffg " t026=" m g mhfff fggfggfgg " t027=" m f gmmmmh sppfhfhgfgg " t028=" ggf mffff sgfmmmmmhfgp " t029=" mm gm ghhghmmmmmffgp " t030=" gggh hhmm mmm mmhpf " t031=" gfhmmmhmmmmmfpfp " t032=" g fhhmmmmmmmmhfffg " t033=" ggghmhmhmmhhgg " t034=" g fh mmmmm hfmfhpgp " t035=" gm ss mmfmfhhmfhpgfp " t036=" hh f hgm h mssssss pp " t037=" g sh ggh f fhhhhpggsppg " t038=" g g pppppfffhfhfhhg " t039=" h gm ghpfffffhmhhhhgg g " t040=" g fh fhfhhhfhhmffhffgg " t041=" gfhhmhhhfhgmgfggg " t042=" ffmfmhhhhhhhhhffgp " t043=" ghhffhfpppfhhhhfgfp " t044=" gg gg gpfffpg sphhhffggg " t045=" ggghggg g f ghhpgfhhhhffgg " t046=" gggsfghhg m m hghffhfghggg " t047=" sggfgsggggfgg gfhhghhhghghgffg " t048=" ggggggggg pgg gf g spfphhhhggffggg " t049=" ggggggggggggg fg sggggghghggfgggg " t050=" ggghgghgffgfp gsffphpgghgggfggg " t051=" gggs hgggggp pgggghgghfffgp p " t052=" ssshgggfgpp gppghghfghhpfsgp " t053=" gggggggggg gg gggggggggfgggggg " t054=" sss ghhgfp ggpppfp gppggghfffhffhfff " t055=" sssggfmfppp fmhfpgggppgpfggfffhffhfgg spppp " t056=" ggsssssfhhpp ggmhhghggggfggffffffffffgg sssspsp " t057=" gggsssgghggg ghhgfggggggggfgffffffgs sssssgg " t058=" gshhsssfhfpfp hfhhffggggggggfffffffgs ssspspp " t059=" ssssgggppp hmhhhghshggfggffffffggsssssspsss " t060=" sssssggfp fggghhffffgsgghfgfffffgfggsssspsspp " t061=" ssgg ggfghhfhggpsspppggfppppfgssgsssgsppf " t062=" g g ggp spfppfgfpppffpsssgssgfffp " t063=" gppppggppppppppspsggggpps " t064=" ggfhgggfgppppppfpppppssgss " t065=" gggggghggggfgppppppppppppsssss " t066=" ghghggfggfgfgffgffgffgggffgggggpgfgffg " t067=" ghfhfhfhgfffhfghfffhfhfhgghffhffffhfhf " t068=" ghshhhfgggffggggffffffgggfffgfffffffgs " t069=" gfggggfgg ggfgffsgffsssgfgggfgffgg " t070=" ggfh ggg ggggs s f " t071=" g g h pfpp " t072=" hp " t073=" " t074=" " t075=" " t076=" " t077=" " t078=" g g " t079=" " t080=" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

yes i have tried altering the scenarion maps and it does work but it is VERY tedious and im not sure about all the terrain squares but this what ive got so far is:

a = arctic
t = tundra
m = mountains
g = grassland
f = forest
s = marshes
p = plains
h = hills

im not sure about jungle and desert but there probably j and d

I know, the basics are simple and if you sit down for it anyone can understand it. So why would editing a map be so complicated that we need Civworld instead of texteditor to do it?

Strange that nobody patched together a simple mapeditor for windows yet.

Just try and see what happens. That's the best way to learn in these situations.

Some documentation about the mapping system/save games is probably somewhere out there as well. I've really looked for it though.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

The source code should work :

savegame.c

Though I admit that could be hard to read if you don't know C fairly well. But yes, jungle=j and desert=d.

The map editor is very nice; to bad you can't try it.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

I understand how to edit terrain. But is there a way to put rivers, huts, souces, start locations...on a certain place or you can only write a number how many huts, specials,...will be in map?

Enter the AD-FREE zone

Seeing the source I believe the other parts in the save game have something to do with the river mapping coordinates (and height?).
