PRIME MINISTER PERSSON SHOT
Today in Stockholm while at a PR rally Premier Persson was gunned down by a suspected Argentine national. While many are suspicious that it was someone attempting to further incriminate Argentina after the beef incident in which King Oscar II was killed many people are demanding immediate retribution.

NEW DRAFT BILL ISSUED
The Riksdag had issued a new draft bill today requiring 20,000 Swedes to join the armed services. All 20,000 men must be between the ages of 19 and 45 and must meet the mandatory physical given by the military.
INVESTIGATION COMPLETED
After weeks of exhausting investigation by Swedish Intelligence it has bene concluded that the beef ingested by King Oscar II came from Argentina. Furhtermore two more shipments of beef were found to have harmful chemicals in them that when ingested were fatal. One shipment was even scheduled to be sent to Britain.
To Britain - Our investigation is complete. We have proof that the Argentines are poisoning Europe's monarchs. Please back us in our war of retribution.
To Germany - Would you consider signing a strategic alliance. With both our Christian powers united we could dominate the world.
To Russia - We realize that while you are attempting to correct this problem you economy is suffering from cenuries of Tsarist corruption. United States Declares War on Mexico!
Seeing the obvious choice for America's first new Imperial time, America began it's imperial quest with a declaration of war on Mexico. President James Dragon gave a speech before Congress and proclaimed that time for a new, strong, American Empire had come. The Republican Congress agreed, and Congreess formally declared war on the Republic of Mexico.
The Governors of the states Bordering Mexico has been alerterd do this as well, and had begun their own bildups of their militia. The Federal Army, Having reached it's Mobilized strength of 100,000 and being expanded to 500,000, was deployed along the Mexican Border and ready to strike. Though the United States did not yet outnumber the Mexicans, The United States had state of the art Rifles as well as Rapid Fire Artillery, the latter of which had been used to give the Germans are decisive victory against the French in ther Franco-Prussian War. Furthermore, the Mexicans lacked ships fit to go up against Any American ones.
The Mexican Campaign, part I.
The First Combat of the war occcured along the California/Baja California border, with the US invading with 10,000 Federal 10,000 California troops. The Border weas heavily populated- With San Diego being so near Tijuana and Calexico being Near Mexicali. That meant the US troops and Mexican troops started near each other, also meaning US/California artillery was well in position to begin to firing on the Mexicans. Artillery fire commenced on both sides, but the US' rapid fire aritleley gave them the Advantage the US launched a general attack into Mexican Territory. The advantage of the US advanced Rifles was evident, as American troops began to drive the Mexicans back. Seeing the disadvantage they had due to the United States starting artillery positions, Mexican forces decided to retreat to where they could fight at a more advantaged position. The Mexican troops have retreated to Sto. Tomas, allowing the US to reach as far South as Esmerelda, as well asa capturing the Sonora town of San Luis. To prevent any retreat across the Gulf of California, an American Armored Cruiser entered the Gulf of California accompanied by 3 frigates. In Sonora, a large array of towns south of Arizona were to greet the Americans, invading the province with 15,000 Federal and 5,000 Arizona troops. The Sonora Forces clashed with the US/Arizona soldiers at the town of Camanea, with the Mexicans choosing the town to be further away of the US Artillery's inital positions. The Mexicans planned to use their superior numbers here to trap the Americans. The Mexicans began a fighting withdrawal with a pinning force, and then hit the US rear guard with a strong flanking forces. US Cavalry has picked up the move and the US rear guard had dug in, but the sheer numbers of the Mexicans called for reinforcements along from the front line. The Mexicans used this oppurtunity to drive back the Americans from Cananea. Those reinforcements, however, were in a position to flank the Mexican Flanking Force and were able to destroy it. The loss of the Flanking force was too severe for the Mexican Sonora force. The US then attacked the Mexicans in full, and retook the town. The Mexicans retreated Southward to meet up with more reinforcements. In the province of Chihaua, the US invaded with 5,000 New Mexican, 5,000 Texan, and 10,000 Federal troops. The towns and Cities along the border fell like they did at Baja, including the major cities of Ciudadad and Juarez. With Suitable distance between towns, the fighting has been less intense, with The United States Steadily driving back the Mexican soldiers, with the US advancing to a Madera-Gomez Farias-Buena Ventura-Coyame-Manueal Buenavidas line. The Province of Coahiula was attacked by 5,000 Texas Soldier and 10,000 Federal Soldiers. The Mexican decided to fight it out here near the border, for altough they would face the artilery disadvantage, they would also be facing the most advantageous terrain. The US decided to get around this by means of a flanking manuever. The US Charged away from the Mexican PLateau, and Charge at it's weakest position. This broke the Mexican line, and allowed for the US pinning force to move in. A large part of Mexican Army here was destroyed, and the Mexicans were routed as a result of the flanking, and the Americans Reached the Rio de la Barbia. The Province of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipa were in such a formation that they could be treated as one province for the Purpose of the attack. It was attacked 10,000 Texas and 40,000 American troops. This "province" Felt the brunt of the US Attack- and it was here the US had both numbers and technology, as well as bombardment from ships along the coast. After the border towns here fell as they did across the entire Mexican, US troops were able to advance Rapidly. Because the US technology was so much better and the fact the US had numbers, the Mexicans had to continue to fall back to avoid destruction. US Forces there Currently hold a Monterrey-China(that's a name of a Mexican town)- Burgos- Cruillias- San Fernando line. At Sea- the US faces no serious challenge, as the American navy is using it's capital ships to assure dominance, with Frigates and Merchant Raiders used to help with the blockade. Across the US- the Militias are increasing in size along with the Federal Army to help prevent other nations.

News from the German Empire:
Colonial Funding Increased:
The Office of the Colonial Secretary announced today that the Reichstag has appropriated significant funds towards the expansion and improvement of German lands in Africa. Troops will be dispatched to civilize the native populations and will be used to protect and support the gradual expansion into Africa. Increased numbers of settlers are expected in the future, as are treaties with native tribes in the African interior. These treaties will make the tribal lands German protectorates and will greater assist in our noble effort to civilize these savages. (OOC: I am not talking about major African nations, just minor tribes not shown on the map.)
Army Mobilized for Exercises:
The German Army has been fully mobilized for military exercises and wargames around Strasbourg. These are expected to last several months. New equipment and personnel will be joining the effort as soon as they are produced or trained.

The Somalians have suffered a major defeat at the hands of the technologically, tactically and quantitatively superior Ethiopian forces at Galcaio. Casualties are estimated at over thirty-thousand for the Somalians, who have now largely retreated to their capital at Mogadiscio, and a new front has been formed near Belet Uen. The Abyssinian troops are now moving on to secure the northern part of Somalia, and to get a port at the Indian ocean.
The fight in the south is going not as well, and they are now moving eastwards after securing only marginal gains (OOC: roughly the Kenyan-Ethiopian border IRL). These corps are heading for Belet Uen as well, where another critical battle is expected to take place. More news is expected soon.

Napoleon responds to German claims
Today Napoleon made a speech outside the Capitol Building in Paris.
I have recently held diplomatic conversations with Germany and left them feeling like something was lacking. The Germans called our actions imperialistic while they expand their African holdings. They blame us for creating a fortress from which to protect you, the people, from outsiders, claiming that we will attack. I understand their concern due to our recent Army expansion and also our Naval expansion, my reply to that is this; We need to expand our military so we do not fall victim to foreign attack, surely your people understand this need. There has been drastic military spending worldwide, we must keep up. This does not mean I like the manner the world is turning in, I despise the fact that we must take young men who wish to do other things and put them in danger. The irony to this is extreme, we must put them in danger to save them from it. And so I say to Germany, we are building these defenses to protect ourselves, if we attack from them, we are at a disadvantage thus far. We will stop building them when we have no reason to and right now, we have national interest in mind. Later this week I will anounce another bill concerning our oversea territories. That is all for now, I pray we have set the Germans in the right direction. Godspeed.

The Fourth Army has been moved to the Pyrenees to protect against the French buildup there. The Fourth Army is four divisions made up of 80,000 new troops, half of which are new reservists.

The Spanish Fleet, along with an expeditionary force set sail today for an undisclosed location. Unconfirmed governemt reports say that Iitis headed for Africa.

IC: With the increase in French troops, the Governemt has declared a state of national emergency. The fleet and expeditionary force has been recalled to Barcelona, and will prepare for action against France. All remaining reserves are being called to the front. It is expected that at full mobilization, the aremy will be fielding 523,000 troops. Forces already in place have begun increasing the fortifications along the Pyrenees to resist French aggresion.
To Germany: As you can see, the imperialist French have turned their eyes to us. If we fall, you may be next. Please if France attacks us, come to our aid.

President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento announces a trip to Europe: he will be passing through London, France, Berlin, Paris, Rome and Madrid. From there he will head home.
The invasion of Uruguay is not going well and the Uruguayin militia is wreacking havoc in the cities and the army is heavily entrenched outside the towns. A breakthrough seems almost impossible. Meanwhile, 20,000 men arrive at each city to hold them. The Argetine still await the arrival of artillery in order to break through the Uruguayan lines.
Meanwhile, new laws are being passed:
Tax Reduction Act: Tax reduced by 25% for new entrepreneurs.
Education Act: Primary schooling obligatory for all children over 6 years of age.
Industrial Act: New industries shall be awarded with grants in pesos oro for new machinery.
Railway Act (not yet approved by senate): Offers British railway companies the monopoly for railway construction in Argentina.
Patagonian Migration Act: All migrants to Patagonia shall be granted 100 Acres of land, 100 sheep, a plugh, 250 pesos oro and 25 sacks of the crop of their choice.

The Ottoman empire has announced the the beggining of the constructrion of their new fleet. By the time it is done, 24 armored warships and 13 battleships shall encompasde the new fleet. This will take many years but we are prepared for it. In addition, the Ottoman Empire is looking for the technology to build ironclads, from any nation. Also, travel to the baltic sea has been restricted to a much lower rate for undisclosed reasons. Seeing as war may break out at ant time in europe, the ottoman army is increasing to 500,000 trained men at all times.

The Mexican Campaign Continues...
OOC: I didn't post yesterday, so consider this to be for two months.
The Federal, which had for a while been expanding, has reached 500,000 troops. On the Baja Front, the American advance continued against the defeated Mexicans, and were backed up by 5,000 Federal troops. With the advantage they gained at the beginning of the war, Americans drove forward and took Sto Stomas and San Vicente. Then, American MArines began raiding towns in which supplies were being brought up. San Telmo, San Quintin, and San Rosario were all raided, and in those raids American forces were able to capture/burn supplies, and thus the Supply Routes were entirely inadequeate for the Mexican Baja forces, forcing the Mexican troops there to surrender, and Northern Baja gave up. Southern Baja, at this point, had little troops, and most of them had been sent to Northern California where the Mexicans met disaster. The South was not well guarded at all, leaving it open to a naval invasion. American forces sailed through to the Bay De La Paz, And landed across the bay from the Isle Espiritu, and battle commenced with the Mexicans, but a lack of entrechments put the Mexicans at a big disadvantage with the US's repeating rifles, and American Forces captured La Paz, the city which held the Lower Baja government. The Lower Baja followed the lead of the North and surrendered, putting Lower California(both Bajas) under American Control. At Sonora, the Mexican defeat at Cananea had caused a General Retreat South until they could meet with reinforcements. 50,00 Federal Reinforcements arrived and the Press Southwar d began. As the Americans drove toward Hermosillo, they were aided by an American force which landed from Baja, with Northern Baja Now mostly guarded by California troops. The Americans landed behind Hermosillo, and were able to sorrund the city and the forces guarding it, leading to capture both the above mentioned. At the end of the Months, American forces had reached Novojoa. 100,000 Federal Troops were sent against Chihuahua and were able to pound the Mexicans backwards. With The Americans currently outnumbering the Mexicans here, they have been able to pound them backwards. The Americans, because they outnumber Mexicans on this front, have used headlong attacks to drive them back, and have reache Nonoava At Coahiula, 75,000 Americans had mobilized. As most of the fighting was in the North of the province, the fighting at first went like Chihuah, with the US driving them back. However, Mexican reinforcements were more numerous in the South of the province. The lack of towns there have slowed the Americans, causing them to only reach as far South as San Perdo. At Nuevo Leonen and Tamulipa, 150,000 American Troops. Fighting was heaviest here. The main battle came at Cidudad Victoria. As American forces had lined up to meet the enemy, the Mexicans Massed there attack and a moving American Division, and were able to decimate and drive it back. This however the Mexican line too vulnerable, and there was a race back to it. So, the US Used There Cavalry to hit there Flank, and were suscsessful and collapsing the MExican line. Nuevo Leon and all Tamulipa north of Tula had fell to the American Forces.
The American Navy has set about the Construction of 20 Battleships and 20 Armed Crusiers. While this will take awhile, America has many ports, which will greatly speed the project. This could change however, if Arms Limitation agreements are sucsessful.

If it does not sign an arms control limitation agreement, not only will have to spend huge amounts of money on it's navy, it will also have it's navy outnumbered by an even more obscene margin. Refusing to sign will only hurt your nation.

The Emperor spits in disgust at the USA proposal to limit military growth. He sees it as an attempt by greedy men to limit the growth and potential of divine men like those of Japan and Orania. In response to the proposal, Emperor Sukoto ordered more ships to be built in larger quantities to protect our home and our interests at sea.

The fleet will be completed in a few years as the Japanese industry expands and the shipyards multiply. It will complement the small navy already in service, mainly small light vessels.
