Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Why would they torture Saddam Hussein for info on WMD's? All the top brass know full well there aren't any in Iraq.

I was going to...

"I'm to lazy to debate a "belief" with you KH. Any evidence I produce will be refuted one way or another anyway. I don't trust Bush, FOXNews is crap, the FBI lies, blah blah blah... It's to difficult to give proof to some who will ignore anything that is shown; [OJ Impression] See, the gloves too small[/OJ Impression]

was going to be my post.

Japher, come on--the Weakly Standard story was torn to shreds in the thread about it, and I've not seen that story corroborated anywhere. The NY Post would have at least picked it up here in the U.S.

The Post did report on it.

However, even though the DoD refuted it, it was dismissed as being "untrue" and "unverified"... that doesn’t dismiss it, and it is still being addressed as a leak, so it must mean something.

Boston Herald
"The people who sneer at the possibility of bin Laden-Saddam connections overlap with people who tend to blame Sept. 11 on the failure of the United States to solve all the problems of the Middle East. The recent bloody attacks in Turkey show that it's the modern world itself that the terrorists are trying to destroy. Turning a blind eye to evidence that conflicts with cherished feel-good assumptions is a dangerous habit."

as well as NewsWeek put it better than I can.

Still, while you care not to believe what is placed in front of you, I care to believe. IMO, you could still have all the facts, but the only proof of it is history, which you all have the tenacity to dismiss as revisionist or hearsay… What do want? What would be concrete evidence to you? I really don’t think SH and OBL would have been dumb enough to have pictures of the two taken, and I don’t think they got matching “I Love Mom” tattoos, or have secret decoder rings…

First, whya rgue with japh about the supposed SH-OBL links? The "proof" is poor at best, but the admin and its supporters will continue to tout it endlessly, otherwise admit one justification was at best grossl overplayed.

As for Osama baing dead..you mean dead like Saddam was? I mean, we did bomb Saddam to death twice!

Finally, as for the question? No, becuase it would lead nowhere usefull. Besides, more than 6 months have passed- the bad guys have had so long to get their hands on them, if they existed.

dead as in none of the audeos or videos that have been released have Osama have mentioned any events subsequent to December 2001, in contrast to at least one tape by Zawahiri. Leads me to think theres a good chance Osama is dead, though I suppose there could be other explanations

As for torturing Saddam, its pretty well established as Cerberus said above that torture tends to be ineffective in getting information.

Why use them as a pretext for attacking Iraq, then, when there were many other reasons for doing so?

Should your Wommdies fall in the wrong hands, the world would be a much more sorry place, so I think it's worth taking the risk of torturing you.
