for the record it was not my idea, it was the consul's idea to make this poll official... get YOUR facts straight

well, the thing is that if we are making an "official" poll then we'd have to follow constitutional procedure and there's a little problem in that this issue is a bit more complex than a "yea or nay" (since there's a "nay now but yea later" option). So, we'd have to have TWO bills. And given that one bill would be dependent on the other, we'd have to have one after the other, and given that this is the holiday season, we'd likely need more than 48 hours for each. That means probably a week of polling, or more. Do you think it is really worth it and that a new poll will somehow change the voting tendencies?

Now the other "official" way is to have one of the FAM members to post the poll but then again, it really isn't official either. Plus, if I had to re-poll i'd basically poll the same three options with a disclaimer as to the technicalities (i.e. not giving eq4 right away, and the other option being until Metallurgy). These were discussed in the other thread.

Well, the disuccion thread (as well as my posts here) clearly stated that we would (in case of 1) ) gift Eq4 after we got a settler out of it as well as Metallurgy being the tech of choice if we decided to wait later.

So, rather than ask if we should make an official poll or not, perhaps we should ask is: given this would anyone like to switch their vote around? I really can't confirm that everyone understood the meaning but we can definitely ask and if there is no confusion then would you agree that this poll was an accurate reflection of the team's feelings on the issue?

Yes, very much. The poll is vague, inspecific, and confusing. Not to mention the fact that it was never meant to be official, and, it was stated so in the first post.

No offense, MJW - it's good to have polls about important subjects and I'm glad you created one!

unofficial poll. But just because the poll isn't law doesn't mean it is not importaint.. the poll shows what the team thinks and the consuls should follow what the majority thinks, it's just that it isn't law anyway :-)

Ennet is right. This poll did not start as "official" and binding, and it is not now.

That having been said, the consuls have made a decision on where to steer our diplomacy based on the results. Which means this poll did its job.
