AFAIK Eurofighter Typhoon and Eurocopter Tiger are already in service.

To the changes - it is the next step to move from the cold-war "have-lots-of-tanks-to-stop-the-evil-soviets"-Bundeswehr to more mobile forces that are needed in conflicts today. But given our constitutional background they will hardly go anywhere in a German unilateral action.

Not conscription, but women can now go into real combat troops if they wish. IIRC that has to do with EU law. Before women weren´t allowed to join combat forces (only medics etc.), but that was seen as discriminating by women who wnated exactly that. Since 2001 they can now be everything from Panzergrenadier to jet pilot.
