	The Diplomatic Agenda Remove this text

There's a lot to be said about many teams right now and how we plan on dealing with them in the short-run. Rather than post everything in each team thread, I feel it is a better idea to make one thread so that everyone can get "the big picture".

First one by one:

CFC

By far the most important thing we have to do is get the border deal done with. I have PMed Zarn to schedule a chat soon. We will proceed with "the plan" saying that the poll is so far negative and that if there is no other way to compromise and then telling them the good news that it was accepted. Mind you, given CFC's worries this will not be as hardball-ish as I had intended at first but merely an attempt to test the waters as far as CFC's importance on getting this city. For the record, Eq4 will be handed over only until we get a settler out of it, in other words 14 turns from now. CFC will also have to send their own settler first. This should give us some time to position some troops.

We will also see what's up with the alliance proposal as it appears both of us are waiting for the border to be solved first before bigger steps are taken. We still have not polled on this issue and some further debate will be necessary as it is not yet hammered out.

After that, it's cross your fingers for the next 30 turns, hopefully they won't attack us during that lapse. After our REXing is over we must be on guard for any eventuality.


GCA

If it were my call I would personally flame Lucky's ass for his stupid comments like his recent message to WB. Regardless we must see if they are willing to make peace now and get that over with.


GWT

As some of you might know, Striker posted a new e-mail for their save and for diplomatic stuff at 1BC, E_T suggested that we e-mail them to get the relationship back on track but I disagree. As things stand, they have much more to win by dealing with us, than us with them, we also agreed on a tech embargo with CGN which might also damper any renewal of diplomacy among us. IMO, we should keep ignoring them until they decide to contact us. They have dug their own grave by ignoring everyone else and runing diplomacy, we should not help them climb out. Therefore I suggest we do not contact them first.


CGN

Our relationship seems to be very good for the short/medium term, we should keep it that way and I doubt, bar some unforseen circumstance, that this will change significantly. As long as there is a stalemate on the other continent, we are far better off.


In summary

The current diplomatic agenda is as follows:

CFC: friendly, understanding and even a bit appeasing, but on guard for anything
GCA: stick this up your as.... err, you want peace or not? After that bugger off.
GWT: who the hell is GWT?
CGN: trade trade trade, and more trade. Potentially our greatest medium-term ally, but also our long-term rival.

Please keep a close watch on this. GWT's army is bigger than CGN's. They might be up to something.

CGN's army is increasing rapidly and GWT's seems to either be weakening or remaining constant (as we are now average with GWT, despite relatively thin military production).

This might seem random but remember when mongoose said "your postion is not as bad as it looks."? (or something like that.) The only thing that was hidden from us at that time was (and still is) strategic resources. So we might have all the oil in the world. Maybe....

We will stop GWT if we tech trade with CGN and CFC and give a lot of gold to CGN. We can stop GWT easyly. If CFC does not attack us. But that is a big "if".

More seriously, keep GWT and CGN locked in a stalemate, and pray to the Banana that Goonie doesn't come back to CFC. (Alternatively, that OctX is elected Ambassador next time around. Or that all of CFC's iron moves off the continent.)

I was referring to the same thing.

Even if GWT does destroy CGN, the time it would take them would allow us to bee-line for Navigation to throw our weight into the conflict.

This needs some revision after the GWT galley incidents.

Any input?

Especially if a larger shift in policy is necessary, we make it and then hand over any new policy to the capable hands of the FAM. In the meantime however, I'd like to see something from the FAM on how they advise that we should address the issue(s) with GWT.
