Is global warming a bigger threat than terrorism? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

So, what do you say? On current evidence global warming is killing more people and getting far less resources spent on it.

Of course, one successful nuclear attack on downtown Los Angeles would change that...

But do you think we've got the balance right, in both the short term (say next 10 years) and the long term (say 50 years).

Tired of ads?

Well, duh, but it's by far not the biggest stupidity. Do you know how much money would've been saved, and how much wealth would've been created if fusion research had been given a bigger priority? Compare Fusion research money in the USA, and say... defence spending.

Suffering from ads?

It's easier for individual countries to do something about terrorism than about global warming.

+

There are far too many uncertainties involved with either to say which is a bigger threat.

How is a heatwave a product of global warming? It's been abnormally cool in Japan this year; should I blame my heating bills on global cooling?

Jesus, countries are too dumb to prepare for hot weather and then try to blame the resultant deaths on "global warming"...

Bet your life on that Drake? And your family's?

I wouldn't.

EDIT:

Can you prove it wasn't global warming? Because it certainly wasn't global terrorism that killed them.

No. I can't prove it wasn't all a high-tech Al Qaeda attack, though, either. Kind of hard to prove a negative...

Sounds very kinky, but here we are faced with 2 things that are supposedly going to kill lots of people unless they are dealt with.

Global warming is not proven. In fact, eatrhs temperature changes every 10000 years or so. There are possibilities that we are in such a change.
Second, 15000 elders that died of heat wave last summer has, in no way, been proven that it was because of global warming. This kind of heat has been recorded in the past.
Third, global warming, if it exists, is an increase of 0.2 degrees celsius per year, which is pretty insignificant. Meaning that since it started, we did noit have time to really feel the difference.

Climate change is part of the earths history. Sensationalism is clear part of human lives.

You could have just clicked "No"... but thank you for explaining the ideas behind your thinking.

Now explain where all the people in Bangladesh are going to end up when there's no Bangladesh left to stand on.

And then try and prove that Bangladesh's problems are in no way related to global warming.

Then we'll go onto the next disaster area, and progress through about 180 countries until you've covered them all.

Alternatively - prove that terrorism kills as many if not more people.

So you can't prove it and I can't prove it...

So what did kill them? Al Qaeda with their deadly heatray? Aum Shirikyo? The Beverley Sisters?

Nothing about Bangladesh, I note. Or the incidence of record breaking summers within the last 50 years. Or the incidence of pollutants and green house gases. Sweet FA about the hole in the ozone layer.

You really couldn't give a sh1t about global warming, could you?

First, we are not sure global warming exists. Some scientists are even talking about global freezing.

Dude, what about another ice age? Do you know we had one 10000 years ago? And it wasn't created by pollution? Climate change is a natural reality. Deal with it. Until Global warming is PROVEN by FACTS, I am not buying it.

First, we dont know if global warming is RESPONSIBLE for any deaths, but we KNOW that terrorism had killed more than 20000 people atleast.

So whats your point?

Hmm... I write that global warming has killed at least 15,000 people, and you don't believe it.

You write that terrorism has killed more than 20,000 people, and I don't believe it.

We appear to be at an impasse.

I will not be posting further on this topic until after Christmas.
